I never played BB on anything besides the base PS4 and it ran pretty choppy in quite a few areas. The Slim is more or less the same as the OG performance wise based on what I've been told, and I've read it runs better on the Pro but I can't imagine how much better it could possibly be.
Despite the hardware shortcomings the game is enjoyable the entire way through. I don't recall ever hearing about a dev crunch period leading to incomplete/cut areas like Izalith and the sixth archstone. What's interesting about BB is how there are semi-optional bosses (what that means will become apparent at some point if you pay attention to what precisely triggers parts of the map to open up) and how few bosses are required to clear the game. Most of the content is off the beaten path so definitely explore and early at that. As with all of these types of games, if you're playing blind, it's worth it to keep a little notepad handy to keep track of yet unexplored routes, unexplained bullshit, and general filters.
Oh don't get me wrong, the game is great. But it feels they made a choice: a big world or graphics. They went with a big world, big enough that the stock ps4 has to downgrade everything but the bare essentials. I don't completely mind it, but it's noticeable

Sony became too cocky for their kind hoping they could replicate the success of the PS2, especially with graphical improvement, but forgot what made the first two PS consoles (as well as its handheld PSP and even to a lesser extent PS3) fun and addictive

The PS2 had lots of games and decent graphics for the time. I do like bloodborne, it just feels like it could have been improved, because it feels more 7th gen than 8th gen in terms of visuals.

Not trying to white knight for From or anything but their games have never looked that good. It's always been more about the atmosphere and vibe. Case in point, the Demon's Souls remake vs the original; the remake captures next to none of the original's atmosphere and is as soulless as every other modern PS exclusive. DS3 is hardly a graphical upgrade over BB (BB looks a lot better than DS2 tho) but they made improvements in boss behavior which makes up for it in a way.

ps4 was 7th gen or is that ps3? Honestly that's the price you pay with consoles, the downgrade in graphic comes with the ability to plug in and play (Hold the optimisms please) and not have to worry about tweaking your build to get a singular game working (Please ignore day one patches for consoles the games just work)

Ps3 was 7th. Ps4 is 8th.

Not the GBC or GBA or even the N64?
Was the N64 not doing it for you or something?
The N64 was a letdown for me at the time.
I'm revisiting it now and starting to warm up to it but fond memories I don't have.
I came late to the GBA (I went for the NGPC instead) so I initially missed out on a lot of good stuff.
The GBA player on the Cube is what made me dig into that library.

The N64 made me butthurt about not being able to enjoy stereo red book-quality audio on vidya. It wasn't so big at first because there was a good lineup and the gameplay that came alongside backed it up. It was that torrent of stuff that began around the 97-99 period; if you didn't have a Saturn (schmups and all of Capcoms fighting games) or a playstation (everything really) you were seriously missing out.

I don't disagree. From what I've seen of games other than bloodborne, fromsoft games put gameplay first, graphics second.

I don't even think bloodborne's graphics are bad or puke inducing, it just feels like a game that would have graphically been on a PS3. I don't mind; while 8th gen was more my era, I played plenty on my old Wii as a kid, and even now, play on a 360 From Time to time. Hell I've put in plenty of hours on my OG Xbox.

It just feels... disappointing in a way. Even on the 360, I've seen games that are at least equal to it graphically, though not as big world wise. Hell Xbox one has better looking games.

Still ill keep playing, but it's just a minor gripe

Not even the DS?

I think this is it, PS5 may be Sony's last console and if by some chance there is a PS6, it will be an entirely digital device with heavy streaming functionality in mind
Mark Cerny has said that he is working on PS6.

Sony are retarded for following Microsoft. All they need to do is make unique, powerful hardware at a decent price and back it up with a varied suite of exclusives that can't be found anywhere else. Their software strategy for the PS5 has been goddamned retarded.

What's worse, is that they have pissed away a real advantage with the PSVR2 and I just hope they are working on a price revision before going nuts on releasing games.

If I can grab a PS5 and a PSVR2 headset for £600, I'll rip their arm off.

Which is completely normal, he and his team were working on what the PS4 would become right after the PS3 launched too. They go through what worked, what doesn't, and concept out what the successor should be.

The PS5's biggest/only problem being no fucking games makes me scratch my head at what's being discussed in the post-mortem, though.

The Saturn and Playstation were more expensive to produce CDs, yet they still have better audio quality than the N64
That's because regarding the N64 if it wasn't MIDI or PCM, they were heavily compressed MP3's that were forced mono channel. It's why songs in games like Cruisn' World sound low-quality as fuck.

The N64 was like the SNES in many ways... heavily focued on improved graphics while sacrificing sound and music, unless you were a REALLY talented composer that could pull shit off (e.g. Conker's Bad Fur day and the Rock Solid song, which sounds fucking epic)
