Exclusives are soft-monopolies (predicated on a given good being non-interchangeable, which arts and other such media are to an extent). In the short term, they are bad for the consumer as they don't let them drive down the price, in the long term, it depends. The extra revenue can be reinvested for longer term product innovation, and replacements of a given exclusive can be made which would otherwise not exist that improve aspects of the original, and they promote diversity of storefronts which, preventing monopoly, can be beneficial to the consumer. When the only real difference between storefronts is exclusives the situation is generally bad for the consumer (e.g., streaming services) which is why the PC market largely rejects the Epic store (especially since they didn't even develop their exclusives sans Fortnite).Exclusives are competition and competition drives creativity and is good for customers.
Regardless, it's obvious to see that without exclusivity the number of storefronts will shrink, with Xbox first to perish as they truly have nothing to offer at this point (besides the goypass, which will eventually lose its turd-world audience as the price inevitably increases when Microsoft stops selling it at a loss).
