Shit horizon got so far:
  1. PC port
  2. VR game
  3. Forced crossover with death stranding
  4. Sequel
  5. Remaster
  6. Lego game
  7. Various Comics/novels
  8. A tabletop game
  9. Live-action netflix tv series (announced)
  10. Live service game (this piece of shit)
As if it wasn't enough, the last time sony tried a live service game, they lost 300 millions and it looked just as ugly.

At this point I can't even be mad anymore, the company sucks shit at priorities, they are working at a god of war series that adapt the fucking norse games instead of tackling a different plot or, even better, old Kratos, there's nothing I can do but look at it in complete awe, as if I'm watching a briton cop arresting a white woman for trying to escape the muslim gangrapists without loicence.
Don't forget the forced monster hunter and genshit troonpact crossovers

1. Prove humanity, disprove suspicious bot nature
2. Why? What did you like about it?
Glad you asked.
Horizon Zero Dawn is widely regarded as a great game for several compelling reasons, blending innovative gameplay, stunning visuals, rich storytelling, and immersive world-building. Here’s why it stands out:

1. Innovative Gameplay & Combat
Unique Combat System: The game combines archery, stealth, and environmental tactics in a way that feels fresh and rewarding. Players use different weapons and gadgets (like the Shock Bolt or Tripwire) to exploit the weaknesses of massive robotic creatures.
Creature Design & Behavior: The robotic animals (like the Stalkers, Thunderjaws, and Manticores) are not just visually impressive—they have distinct behaviors, AI, and attack patterns, making each encounter feel dynamic and challenging.
Tactical Depth: Players can choose to sneak, fight head-on, or use the environment to their advantage (e.g., luring beasts into traps or using terrain to their benefit).
2. Stunning World-Building & Atmosphere
Beautiful, Immersive World: The game’s open world is lush, diverse, and full of life—from dense forests and snowy mountains to ancient ruins and sunken cities. It blends nature and technology in a striking, post-apocalyptic aesthetic.
Environmental Storytelling: Every ruin, artifact, and hidden cave tells part of the game’s backstory. The world feels alive and layered with history, even without direct exposition.
3. Strong Narrative & Character Development
Compelling Story: The tale of Aloy, a young outcast in a world of robotic animals and ancient tech, is both epic and personal. It explores themes like identity, humanity, nature vs. technology, and the consequences of past civilizations.
Well-Developed Characters: Aloy is a memorable protagonist, and her relationships with allies (like Rost, Sylens, and Ela) add emotional depth. The villains are complex, and the plot twists are satisfying and well-paced.
4. Technical & Artistic Excellence
Visuals & Art Direction: The game is breathtaking, with realistic lighting, detailed textures, and dynamic weather systems. The blend of nature and futuristic ruins is unique and memorable.
Sound Design & Music: The score, composed by Gareth Coker, is atmospheric and emotional, enhancing the sense of wonder and tension. Sound effects are crisp and immersive, especially during combat.
5. Progression & Customization
Skill Tree & Gear Customization: Players can upgrade Aloy’s abilities and customize weapons and armor with different modules, allowing for personalized playstyles (ranged, stealth, melee, etc.).
Cultivation of Tools & Strategy: Crafting and upgrading gear add depth to the gameplay loop, encouraging experimentation and planning.
6. Cultural Impact & Legacy
Horizon Zero Dawn launched a successful franchise, with Horizon Forbidden West being a critically acclaimed sequel.
It helped redefine what an open-world action RPG could be, influencing many modern games with its blend of exploration, storytelling, and creature-based combat.
In Summary:
Horizon Zero Dawn is a standout game because it masterfully combines innovative combat, a visually stunning world, a gripping story, and deep player agency. It’s not just fun to play—it feels like an adventure that lingers long after you finish it.

As one of the best examples of modern game design, it’s no wonder it’s celebrated by critics and players alike.
I may have asked for some outside assistance.

I may have asked for some outside assistance.
When the first one released, I genuinely thought horizon was just another ubisoft open world sandbox piece of trash and after the second game game, I begun believing the first and second games were some trash sony had prepared early on but planned to release a week before more popular games from other companies in order to steal attention from those games.
Horizon zero game came out right before Breath of the wild, horizon forbidden shit was released days before Elden ring.

Forced crossover with death stranding

They share the same engine. When Kojima was starting out with his brand new, independent company, he used the same proprietary engine that the Horizon games use either for free or at deep discount to make Death Stranding. IMO, Kojima was paying back the favor with some free advertising.

On that note, I strongly suspect part of the reason Horizon gets astroturfed as much as it does is because 1) they're trying to shill/show off the engine to other developers, and 2) don't need to pay license fees to Unreal or whoever else.

I don't think so. Unless Wikipedo's wrong, it's being used only by Guerilla and KojiPro, and the Until Dawn games from a decade ago. Simpler answer is that the current CEO of Playstation is just playing favorites with the studio he came from.

I don't know if anyone has seen Sony's latest financial report for Q3 2025?

See the little 8 next to hardware? Sony specify that these numbers are based on Sell-in. Which means they just filled their warehouses to the max and called it a day.
It would be interesting to find out how many PS5's are manufactured per year because a lot must be sat on shelves.

Select 'financial statements' to see for yourself.

My prediction is it will great to get if you don't have a PC, dumb if you do already
It could also be interesting for people wanting to see a glimpse of Windows-less PC gaming without having to know or do anything by themselves. I'm curious about the UI too, perhaps they will nail it. If Steam Machine isn't priced too high, it could be a neat little living room gaming PC even a retard can use.

is anyone here gonna get the steam machine or we all agree it's a gimmick?

This new device is going to be grounded on the proven success of the Steam Deck, Proton and SteamOS. Like the Deck it is another avenue for Steam users to enjoy their games. This device is intended for the living room, it is a 6 inch cube that will sit unassumingly next to your TV. It is not meant as a mass market product because it is not going to be available in retail stores. The price is going to be the make or break factor, if it is a good value it is a no brainer for PC living room gaming or as a general purpose back-up PC. especially if you are already a Linux user.

I’m excited to watch Sony try another live action game, which they will hopefully lose 9 figures again.
Its even more hilarious because everyone is ready to give sony free money whenever they port Bloodborne on Steam but no, the company is led by the sole horizon fan and the corporate globohomo system can't allow to admit their own mistakes, like creating horizon as a series to even begin with.
Its all very gay and retarded, but the customers and employers are the only ones getting punished for executives fucking shit up, so might as well sit there and laugh at sony's idiocracy this point.

Major selling point to aim at the Sony crowd: you can bring your PS5 controller, and then use the packed-in Steam Controller when your PS5 controller develops drift a month later.

Your new PS5 game saar

Second Concord? I think so.
I was reminded of Suicide Squad when I saw the logo. Then, I remembered that Horizon exists as a Sony franchise. You know a game is forgettable when it reminds you of ANOTHER game at its reveal. Its tepid public reception gives me hope that people are growing tired of live services.
