Of all the "edgy" stuff that gets used as shockers, gore is the only one I can actually understand the point of outside of use in shockers, specifically for real-time "true crime" type stuff, like how Ogrish was used during the wars in the Middle East to track movements of terrorists, and like how r/NarcoFootage tracks (and archives proof of) the activities and movements of Mexican cartels through Instagram and Snapchat profiles of cartel members / associates.I'm fine with seeing gore, I just don't want to search that shit up. Is that being a "moralfag"?
While I still find examples like the above fairly interesting and think they absolutely deserve a platform, it's still the case that communities that are dedicated to gore (and people that seek gore out solely for its own sake and view an overwhelmingly inordinate amount of it) tend to share some amount of overlap with the more indefensible ""edgy"" shit you mentioned, so being against gore is perfectly understandable even outside of a moral position.
