As I stated in the other thread in a long drawn out matter, is it a win if you achieve nothing you set out to achieve?

Monty won more than Nick did, even of Monty didn’t make Nick kiss his ass in court. It’s arguable that more of Nick’s (former) audience has a higher opinion of Monty than when this started.

Nick will claim its a victory, despite the evidence to the contrary. Nick is dropping towards rock bottom and thinking he is winning

I see it as a win for Monty because a giant reputational flip happened. Most likely Nick and the very likely pedophiles he hangs out with will probably disparage Monty, but Nick came out of this looking like a ghoul.

Monty didn’t get the court clearing him, but by and large I don’t think anyone besides schizophrenics and Rekieta think Monty is a pedophile.

I think it’s more that it became very clear that Nick and Randazza’s strategy was to file frivolous and time wasting motions to drive up costs for Monty. Randazza is known for walking the line of being unethical and has been found to be unethical. It basically is do you want to spend all this money only for this asshole to intentionally slow down the trial and sandbag to the point where 3 years down the line you are in a worse position financially even if you win because Nick will likely fight about paying.

Lawsuits also take up time. Monty isn’t a young or rich man. @Potentially Criminal would likely know more, but Hardin didn’t do anything wrong. He called out Randazza for intentionally wasting time and likely pointed out that all Nick was going to do was delay. They retracted a motion to preserve an interlocutory appeal about the Anti-SLAP thing, iirc.

Edit: @waffle or @AnOminous would also be able to infer more based on available information. My guess is Monty or Hardin saw what was going on and said “Can I/ you afford to have them drive up costs to insane levels before we even get to trial or even through discovery?”

Its a shame that the petrofac trust fund won over true justice, but as others have noted in this thread, this case was a huge PR turn around for Montagraph, Nick bares his costs, which is at least a six figure sum in the hole ands Nick got so fucked up about losing his appeal that he will pay for it for five years.

There's solace for Steve in this case. Nick made his own life hell via this action, some poetic justice at least.

Crosspost that likely explains why:

Monty was upfront that it was gonna take a hell of a lot of money to go the full distance. Specifically, after switching to Hardin, he asked for $85,000, in addition to the $15,000 he asked for (and got... or at least close enough) to successfully defend against Nick's appeal.

Unfortunately, since Monty won at the appeals court last year, he has only gotten an additional $2,000 to $3,000. Which I imagine isn't gonna buy much. Hardin would have to be be both super fucking charitable when it comes to his fees, and there are still expenses.

I've watched Montagraph's content for many years. He has always talked like that, long before Trump became popular in the political context. I used to find it entertaining, but lately I've lost my patience for it. The speech pattern you are referring to makes what Montagraph says difficult for me to follow which is why I wanted to archive it. I can't sit through the whole thing at once and I think Montagraph removes his own videos sometimes.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why didn't Monty just crowdfund? Then again it has gone on long enough and Rekieta's life fell apart because of the lawsuit, so maybe that's enough.

Regardless I can't find myself hating Monty. I think he's a funny character is small bursts. I hope he sticks around in the shadows.
