Is it that difficult to say “yes I don’t agree with Trump politically, but what happened to that father of those two girls was horrible, and the daughter as well as the wife who had to witness it all are probably traumatized.” This could have easily been stated. Even if you believe that the other side has been distasteful in their ways of handling someone’s death why not be the bigger person, and not engage in what you consider as horrific responses. One wrong doesn’t make another wrong right.

Fuck it. This has stuck in my craw so much that I’ll actually bother articulating my feelings on this on a drama website. It is wrong on every level to take the stance that destiny has.

In summary destiny’s view is this: Donald trump is an insurrectionist criminal who has dominated the republican party and its affiliates to his whim. As such, there’s no reason to cry for him or his supporters if they’re hurt or killed.

Morally, this is wrong because celebration of death, particularly of the innocent bystanders cheapens life down to a matter of personal beliefs. That is to say, with no further action than the thought of supporting Trump, your life is forfeit. Strategically, this is wrong because it is an off-putting stance to moderates and writes off half the country as unsalvageable ideologically. I doubt liberals, including destiny, would be celebrating much if Biden tanked his campaign by making similar statements.

Unimpressively, Destiny tries banal, vapid deflections to justify what is essentially emasculated, emotional catharsis looking down the barrel of the loss of an, admittedly, important election for his politics. What about conservatives who would celebrate the death of their political opponents? You mean the kind you’ve gotten rich shitting on? Oh, so now you have a problem with edgy jokes? These are not “just jokes”, they are your earnest opinions framed in a humorous (that’s me being generous, I never truly find seethe funny except through schadenfreude) framing. For example, you would never give Hasan a pass for drawing himself as a one piece character with Houthi pirates, despite this being “a joke” because you know that it represents a real belief Hasan Piker has.
