Even if Destiny still felt the passion for Melina when he broke up with her for Lauren, his description is still accurate, because what he just learned a short time before he said this is that Melina doesn't feel that passion for him at all anymore, so if his analysis of relationships is true that means she's going to replace him for someone else eventually, so he might as well do it first so he's not the one that gets hurt.
I really wish I had done a more detailed breakdown, I somewhat did but I wish I had gone far more extreme, of all the small hints and evidence not only that Destiny was having an affair, but that it was Lauren. All these memories and specific instances used to be so present in my mind, and I've lost so many.
