Max has to believe that anyone who disagrees with him or thinks he isn't great has to be part of a cult or just doesn't understand the point he's making, because if they did understand it they would agree with him.
President Sunday's criticism of Max's work was that Max is right about Destiny, but Max is not the person to deliver the message. Sunday even said that HE wasn't the right person to deliver the criticism because Sunday obviously hates Destiny, so the criticism can be waved away. I don't think Max can tolerate any criticism that is actually true if it's something he cares about.

These texts also show an early attempt of Max's to get Melina on his side. Her complaint is that Destiny doesn't say she's pretty and smart, she never affirms it for her. So Max affirms it for her. And not only that, he tells her he tells Destiny that he thinks she's pretty and smart. Max sure is a hero and a good guy. He does this because he needs her in his pocket. Later on he puts a seed in her mind that Destiny and Melina have an incompatible idea of how their open relationship should function. This isn't something a normal person would do if their friend's girlfriend was texting them.

Max was an interesting addition to the Rogues' Gallery, but he's a one trick pony. Everything is going to be a conversation about rape and what a victim he is, and also how he was going to save everyone.
I don't know why people keep saying he's a narcissist. I thought for a long time that's only people who don't watch him. He has way to many traits and behaviors that are incompatible with narcissism. His inability to take compliments, his inability of watching himself without cringing. He recognizes or at least states often that he is not the smartest or prettiest person. He describes himself often as abrasive and understands that there are legitimate reasons why people don't like him.
He is arrogant and has more confidence than he should have, but he's not narcissistic. He's something else.
You're not paying close enough attention to him. It's true that he publicly gets embarrassed by compliments, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't like them. If a girl told him he has a huge dick (he doesn't) on stream, he might feel embarrassed about it, but he's definitely going to like that in DMs. Narcissism is not really about thinking you're perfect, it's about protecting a fragile ego. They create defense mechanisms for their fragile egos. One of Destiny's defense mechanisms is to tell himself he doesn't want to be part of things that shun him or don't appreciate him or that he's not good at immediately. You can say that he doesn't like compliments, but he used to get very upset when Vaush or other Twitch streamers would "bite his shit," and not give him credit for his talking points. He doesn't want anyone to compliment him while he's present, but he certainly wants people to speak well of him and credit him. You can say that he understands that there are legitimate reasons why people don't like him, but Ludwig not liking him really bothered him. When Destiny is drunk you can tell he's desperate for approval. Watch him drunk.
One of the reasons that so many narcissists go undiagnosed is because they know how to hide a lot of their behavior with their words.

I would caveat this. Some narcissists do think they're the best, the prettiest and the smartest. It depends on what they use to protect their fragile egos. If you only have looks, that might be the thing you focus on. If you only have smarts, that might be the thing you focus on. Destiny focuses on being the smartest person in the room, getting the most girls, and playing video games on hard mode. Destiny wants to be a unique fella. "I'm exceptional at this," or, "one thing I do really really really well is.."
He has definitely not a sense of entitlement that would qualify. He often says he is grateful for his streaming success, because even the bad sides of it are better for him than a nine to five. I haven't seen him complain much if he is excluded or not set on a pedestal. He has a hard time asking favors from friends. He sure as hell doesn't qualify as entitled especially in the streamer world. An example for a very entitled streamer would be TrainwrecksTV .

You don't always ask for favors, sometimes you keep people dependent on you in other ways to keep them around. The mask slipped when he talked about how he thought Max wouldn't ever betray him because he was so financially dependent on him. Again, you should pay more attention to the things he says when he's not trying to make himself look good. The mask slips more than you might realize. If he thought this about Max, he thinks it about others. In fact, when he and Vaush split up over Vaush's girlfriend or whatever encouraging him to report him, Destiny expected Vaush to take his side and listed all the transactional reasons he should have.
You know this guy also said he didn't care when Melina left him, but the way he acted made it very clear that he did and he was just waiting for a good opportunity to blast her.
Interpersonally exploitive behavior. The guy has issues saying no to almost anyone. If he absolutely doesn't want to do something he often does it anyway and acts like a child being forced to do something he doesn't want to instead of saying no. He has commitment issues and will probably never have a very deep relationship with anyone but I don't think he's exploitative.

A lack of empathy. This is the most wrong you can probably be. He is probably one of the most empathetic people out there. That is what makes him good at debates and with women. There are videos of multiple women crying watching him cover their #metoo story because they feel understood. The only caveat I would give here is that his empathy is probably all cognitive empathy. His emotional empathy is probably very low.
When people say narcissists don't have empathy, they don't mean that they don't have cognitive empathy. They're talking about emotional empathy and compassionate empathy. Destiny can certainly see things from another person's perspective, but he does not feel them.
One thing you have to understand is that narcissists are very good at reading people, usually through logic. It's how they manipulate them. If they couldn't read someone, then how would they be able to manipulate them? Also, there are different types of narcissism that are sort of unofficial. One type of narcissist is someone with a messiah complex. They like to be heroes. (Max might fit into this category.) This might sound okay, but it can manifest in very scary ways. Some people with this type of narcissism will do things to keep people dependent on them so they can continuously save them and be the hero. (BPD girls are perfect targets for this.)
You could say that this type of person has empathy for the person they're trying to save, but their reasons for doing what they're doing comes from a place of selfishness. They're prioritizing their ability to be kind as a means of boosting their own ego against their insecurities/shame over the actual needs of the person they're "helping."

Destiny has probably been called a narcissist by many women at this point. Women think everyone they don't like is a narcissist, and it's an overused word, but Destiny gets triggered when people spot his behavior. He'd rather people think he's a sociopath. It's one of the reasons most narcissists don't get diagnosed. Therapists will regularly diagnose them with something else, like BPD or autism so they can do therapy for a lack of empathy without saying that person is narcissist.

When Destiny first thought about taking ADHD medication he said that he felt things like that were a crutch. So he probably feels that it should only be done natty or it's cheating. And if it's cheating, he can't boost his own ego, which is the thing he cares about. But he DOES care about being fat and out of shape even though he pretends not to care.
