The game already looked disappointing from lack of content and a "more of the same" vibe. The five minutes of Below Zero already cooled me on this series... Apologies for the terrible pun.

Not to mention the overly inflated price of an early access game. Forgotten Worlds done goofed hard.

Yes. Specifically they misquoted statics and misconstrued school shootings and mass shootings.

They later tried to backpedal and said that it wasn't their intention. But never mistake Maliciousness for ignorance. They knew what they were saying. The studio is decentralized with lots of euros and Canadians involved so I'm not surprised they tried to misrepresent American statistics to back up their personal bias.

Trannies not comparing being employed to literal slavery challenge: level impossible
Their statement is as gay, and as fucking retarded as I vaguely remember it being, 10 years later they're still as gay, as fuck, putting a disgusting negress in the second game is bad enough, and now they're trying to make a survival game non survival, because colonialism bad or something.

I don't even care about no guns in the first game. Not only was it a genuinely good gameplay decision, but the in game explanation fit perfectly with the comically evil quirky corpo style humor the rest of the game had. The reasons outside of the game were retarded but if you didn't follow the devs on Twitter then you wouldn't notice.
They literally modeled a gun and put it in the game so they can tease you with it.

You can look at the cool alien space gun (that would totally work under water) but you're not allowed to use it

CUCKED To the highest degree.

I don't really need guns in a game like this if there are a bunch of fun alternatives, but I don't trust the devs to make these. Most likely, they will resolve the creature aggression issues by toning it down across the board like they did with Below Zero and make the game more boring since they aren't capable of coming up with better solutions. Keep in mind they removed the Stasis Gun in BZ and weren't going to give the Prawn a grappling hook at first because players were being a little too creative with these items and they were incapable of working around that.

I'd rather have a pointy stick instead of a futuristic underwater space gun anyway, use it to throw at creatures from a distance or poke them with it.

its not so much they are incapable, but they snidely said the point is for you to be able to live along side the creatures in the game, and if they wanted a game where we could indiscriminately off wildlife, then play a different game. in other words, they just don't want to fix it because its not broken to them.

There's literally alien spears made for that exact purpose laying around but your dude is too stupid to grab one.

I couldn't hear them over the sound of my shovel lobbing half-moons into my bio reactor

Glad to see somebody I talked about earlier to be relevant again.

The lead artist of Subnautica 2 is a close friend of a tranny who has admitted to blacklisting people from the game industry for petty political reasons.

Although both are more popular in the boomer shooter dev and modding scenes.

Hard to live peacefully alongside things that are trying to eat you...

UW will never acknowledge the argument phrased non-politically. Their previous success with "it's not a bug; it's a feature" has fueled "It's not retarded; it's a political statement that isn't for you CHUD." This is "too big to fail" arrogance.

I find it funny that people are waking up to all that shit now, it was very apparent what Subnautica devs views are for many years, ever since they fired their sound design guy from the 1st game over an attack helicopter joke.

Oh, good. The french are getting their own version of Latinx.

For those who don't know, they're trying to combine the masculine form of the word (Pionnier) with the feminine form of the word (Pionnière) despite the masculine form also being the neutral form.

To be fair, they might just be really heavy.
Oh my God you people still sneeding about the guns.
Forgot to put a "are" between people and still, also most people just want the knife back from the first two games.

Oh and the biomod you get for scanning the big squid sucks ass, its just a tiny pulse that emanates from you and reveals resources. Considering the fact that every time you cross between the two islands you get captured by it, you think that the biomod might repulse the leviathan or something like that, but that would be cool and a good reward so it cant get added I guess.

From what I've seen of them, the biomods are Fallout-style perks I find pointless to include in a underwater survival game. In the previous games, you could fabricate gear that did the job of these Bioshock plasmid ripoffs - Making this mechanic a complication, rather than an innovation.

I get that the writer(s) are pushing the plasmid angle to reinforce their Soma ripoff theme posing the Ship of Theseus question of just how human these printed people leftover following the extinction of humanity are - But Unknown Worlds simply lacks the talent to write compelling science fiction:

Subnautica 1 remains the best due to its relative lack of story-driven handholding (with the PDAs merely there to direct you toward new biomes within the sandbox in the event you failed to stumble across them in your explorations). Below Zero is a narrative failure to convince the player to give two shits about a skippable plot that subverts itself, sidelined by a B plot with a monotone alien that weakly and abruptly ends the game on a cliffhanger. The protagonist's unrelatably specific, inane, fallacious, selfish commentary and plight makes you wish you were playing as anyone else well before she gets the monotone alien as a voice in her head to needle her with inane questions she must answer with inane commentary.

So far, Subnautica 2 is STORY STORY STORY STORY STORY with no beats - The PDA audio files are dumped so close together that they regularly overlap each other. You can already tell that the game will release at 1.0 with a hundred PDA recordings of racially and sexually diverse dead clones telling you exactly what to think and how to feel about this grand story about themes of conservation, colonialism, and transhumanism that Redditors will claim they clapped for.

No matter how much UW manages to fix the gameplay with QOL tweaks, the game is clearly secondary to a story attempting to plagiarize better games which previously (and more capably) explained the same themes in more inspired settings. It's as though UW attempted to disguise plagiarizing their own game by making it more sanctimonious.

Tangentially, they fell off hard after the first weekend in playercount and did not bounce back this saturday almost at all (presently 24h peak is 130k down from 467k all time)

All they had to say was that there are story reasons for NoA not allowing the player to harm local fauna beyond approved fabricator and bioreactor use in line with QI protocols; and that Early Access players can help them balance gameplay by reporting how this story-dictated mechanic affects their experience. But no: UW went mask-off with their anti-killing fetish they blame on Americans (?!); driving players off with "OUR GAME ISN'T FOR YOU" rhetoric that doesn't pay the bills, and anti-violence sanctimony stupidly shoehorned into a game full of violence, dread, and murder specifically occurring because the fictional colonists didn't have access to weapons to defend themselves with.

Making an anti-gun, anti-violence, anti-colonizer, anti-carnivore horror game in which all the horror elements directly result from unavailability of de-escalatory use of force causing violent aggression from local fauna to go unchecked while you work to colonize the local environment and eat the local flora and fauna for the sake of survival is so retarded that I wonder which flag these developers attempt to hide their stupidity behind.

I spent hundreds of hours localizing Subnut 1 and Below Zero; coming up with ways to merge proper grammar and easily-readable 'gamer' language, ie. (x)-blueprint rather than blueprint le fragment des (x).

Anyway: Curious how they do localization now. If it'll all be AI or some third-party vibecoded company. Shit, they said they'd add us to the credits of Subnut 1 by name only to write "Thanks to our volunteers". Ape-brained ahh company.
