Valve HQ right now: "Let's just drip feed them some more bs about fixing tf2, then call up the contractor, so these niggers can shut up, and we don't destroy our entire money printing skin market."

The problem with random crits is that you'd originally think that it was a mechanic designed to give bad players a chance, but instead it's the complete opposite and it just gives the good players an upper hand.
I wish Shounic or someone else would make an experiment server if they haven't already where:
1. The more damage you deal the less likely you will get a crit
2. Implement a System that increases the RNG to the losing team (because one of the main argument points supporting crits is that it breaks stalemates)
These are probably awful ideas, the funny melee crit chains will cease. but I'd like to see them play out

For me honestly I'd rather keep random crits on melee because it gives Medic at least a choice of self-defense, and one-shotting a cocky Scout as DemoPan will never not be funny.
Whole point of crits was to break stalemates. If a team is losing, rewarding them with crits pushes the dynamics of the match towards a stalemate, which is in direct opposition to their purpose. That's also why the losing team gets longer respawns and Medic loses all his ubercharge for dying while getting bonus charge speed for healing players who survived firefights.

Problem with random crits is that they're random, so it's a stupid idea to treat them like a suitable fix-all for stalemates, and there's enough tools in the game now which break stalemates, so crits are extremely unnecessary now beyond the random fun factor. Valve clearly overestimated the influence of this mechanic given they saw "no random crits" as a suitable downside to blatantly overpowered weapons. In my opinion, there should be an option where players can start votes to enable or disable them.

Am just going to say this, I think #FixTF2 will do jack shit. Because Valve knows the bots are going to find a workaround if they fix this, and it’s going to cause a bunch of autistic adults to do another protest again. The reason why the World of Warcraft protest (the campaign that inspired #FixTF2) worked, was because it was a simple and easy thing that fans wanted, and Blizzard knew that WoW Classic would get them a shit load of money. Valve knows that TF2’s crates and micro transactions get them less money; and that the bot workaround isn’t that simple and will require a bunch of “treadmill” work, something that company discourage’s.

If I were a TF2 fan and was a part of this community, the best thing I would do is to create a community server built like a Casual Server and build each Community Server for other game modes. Then I would probably try to email or contact someone at Valve asking if they are willing to do another TF2 Contract where they would replace their casual server with mine and have the community heavily moderate it. If they don’t respond then I will try to inform the community that I built a Casual Community Server and recommend to inform new players that the official servers are plagued with bots and recommend joining said community server.

But hey that’s my personal take and feel free to disagree.

A small Youtuber put out a video saying #FixTF2 won't work and critiques a prominent supporter of it, WeezyTF2, for not wanting to consider a boycott at all.

Browsing through r/TF2 to see how the community there is handling things, there are divided views on if review bombing other Valve games is a good idea or not.

Ironically, wouldn't this help make Valve actually stop the botting problem, in part? A similar situation happening with sprays a few years earlier in casual matches where people had CP as their spray and since it would cache on people's desktops, users unknowingly had illegal shit on their desktop. Valve put an end to sprays in casual real quick.

Or perhaps they might do something retarded and just remove chatting in casual tf2

this would be the perfect excuse to force valve's hand into doing something about it, but bets that the savetf2 exponents are so utterly pussified that they will beg people to not dox these degenerates.

except that was bullshit propagated by a batshit tranny that sent nudes to multiple minors

Well fuck, my bad. Genuinely thought that's what happened, not surprised at the least though. I heard that rumor being spread in casual servers & custom servers alike

I think the only way TF2 can die is if there's a game that captures the same casual nature as TF2, Overwatch is an esports shill and so are many others that claim to be "TF2 killers", there's no chance the community will force themselves to play a game filled with people trying to be the next esports superstar.

Finally caught up to the thread again since last year. Got recommended a #FixTF2 video (don't remember who that was) and I thought "huh, another one?" and went straight to this thread. TBH I quit playing TF2 sometime in 2018, long before the botting problem because it was slowly turning into some incoherent shit fest with all the crazy colored cosmetics destroying the game's aesthetic, with competitive fags shilling being a close second.

I'm gonna be honest, it'll be just like last time, absolutely fuck all was done. There is something within these movements that reminds me of slacktivism, that is to say a lot of things they've done do not address the core issues at hand. The bots are just one part among many other problems TF2 has that, quite frankly, if I was in Valve's shoe, I'd just put it on bare minimum life support and do nothing as it rots off. It's simply not worth it.

Valve of today is not the Valve of 2007 when they made TF2. Valve of today is DOTA2's The International, CSGO/CS2 tournaments, making shitload of money off Steam. If Deadlock leak is anything to go by, their creative minds are also fucked beyond repair. Innovations and creative ideas are no longer their primary goal, supplanted by making the most money with least effort as possible. I mean, look at the entire case economy of all their games: The skins are submitted by community members, got approved by Valve to add to the game regardless if it fits the game or not. The creators got only a tiny cut from all the key sales Valve made from it while Valve do absolutely nothing but cranking out new gacha cases, EA would fucking love to have that.

the tough thing is that its practically impossible to make a server that gets active players on tf2 nowadays. Lol.

The bot plague happened in the first place because Tyler McVickers leaked TF2 source code to the public. Even if Valve fixes the game, another retard like Uncle Dane would find a way to break it again soon (he leaked Deadlock gameplay himself not too long ago).

Is that giga faggot still around? Being that insufferable should be enough to warrant a death sentence, not to mention the damage he's done to Valve's games and news in general.

The funniest thing about these bots, is the fact that they use AI to make a TF2 YouTuber named "megascatterbomb" say some crazy shit.

Honestly I dont know if Im giving scatterbomb too much credit but those bots always seemed like they were created by him or his tranny entourage so he can frame it as "look the bot hosters are afraid of my shitty gay notepad cheater list give me support"

Valve *has* to keep TF2 in a more or less playable state and the servers running. As funny as it is, TF2 economy is literally one of the pillars that hold the entire Steam Marketplace economy. If they drop support for the game, it will make the community trust in Valve plummet, and create a domino effect that would destroy their entire skin money making scheme in the big games like Dota and CS2.

Was it really due to the leak itself or rather the attention they got? Catbots and undetectable cheats like lmaobox with obnoxious cheaters have existed way before the leak itself and cathook was even hosted on a public github page for free. Maybe a couple of existing features got improved from this, but that's it. You always had stuff like cheaters with unusuals being basically untouchable and gloating about it, so it seems to me like they simply started being way more obnoxious with the response in 2020, which then got amplified by lockdowns.

Remember how during the leak everyone fearmongered how it's the worst thing ever, to not even touch tf2, because cheaters can do everything bad to you, which ended up to be stuff manufactured by said cheaters for laughs? It must have been the first time they realized the potential scale of attention whoring they can do. After that they got everything from mainstream articles about niggerkiller bots and causing a long-lasting in-game damage through gimping F2Ps to whole internet talking about #savetf2 for multiple times in-between constant whining about bots/cheaters on any tf2 related place. Would Omegatroonic and rest of them exist without the leak? I'm almost sure.

It's not just TylerMcNigger but all the fags on youtube just whining about it instead of taking action. Every TF2 related place I would go there was just whining and whining about bots or cheaters with no real solutions. Unless you count megascatterbomb smugly chuckling on his power trip, making ultimatums and demanding you to give him your Steam API key to use their trash "anti-cheat" made by actual discord troons. It's been 4 years and we got I think 3rd savetf2 which basically does the bare minimum that should have been done in the beginning. People whining online only sexually gratify these anti-social losers and encourage them further. Leak wasn't really the biggest problem.

someone posted before this theory that the racist bots where made by the trannies so valve would implement a filter. i thought it was conspiracy theory but is just too much coincidence

mind you that the racist/homophobic bots were gone until now
