I haven't watched the video yet but will have to take a listen/watch sometime this week. The game holds nostalgia for me, but at the same time the mismanagement of the game and the changing player base drove me away.

I'm a little ashamed to admit that it was the sole reason I stopped playing, but I quit TF2 in my normal rotation of games years ago because of the increasing number of degenerates I'd have to deal with in a typical session: furries, trannies, and faggots. Sure, it's fun styling on these degenerates, but being around them when I'm trying to unwind after work is tiring. I'm realizing now that they were always there, even going back to the days when bronies made up a sizable portion of the community, but I'm not sure if their numbers grew in size over time or if that's just my hightened awareness.

Add to that the bot problem and the item economy issues and I'm glad I've stayed away for the most part.

it sucks even harder when if they were human it still wouldn't have been that much better, since what remains in these 25k is basically

1. highly skilled players (or sweats) that either use a private discord or simply carry so hard that they find no need for comms of any type
2. redditors, faggots, trannies and furries, these need no explanation and i also don't need to explain thier coombrained banter
3. and the mouthbreathers that somehow have the capacity to open the game, but not to play it.

i refuse to account traders, because they're just a blight that stays in thier own servers to do jackshit half if not all of the time they play.

Honestly explains why Valve has let the game go to pasture, it simply isn't worth the time or effort to fix it.

Valve is NEVER killing TF2 as long as the game makes money. It's in this weird situation where Valve will never actually implement a true fix for the game, but they'll never fully let it die off. There's just far too much money to be made from hats and skins and the like if the game is kept alive, albeit on life support.

TF2 is obviously not getting large Valve made updates ever again. However it's also clear that a decent amount of work is still put into the game behind the scenes. Major bugs are timely patched. Also, the scripting ported from other Source games, and a 64 bit update, neither of which are trivial to implement. It's getting way more support than your average EOL maintenance mode live service game. It's just a shame they stopped caring about the botting problem.
