Android be like that. And it's only this site that it happens on, no others. It does seem to happen with other browsers, but I don't use them very often

It's chat! Disable it if it causes problems and or you don't use it. I'm pretty sure at least. That sounds like it's old MO.

I looked at those threads and all of them have a Sneedchat embed. There was a thread on this a while ago but Sneedchat is basically Total Phonefag Death, there's so much traffic from all the joins/parts that it doesn't let the cellular/WiFi modem sleep and it's probably consuming background CPU time constantly while syncing the user list, loading images, etc.

A thread I follow got moved out of Prospering Grounds (no chat) to IF or something and it was an immediate difference. Couldn't leave that open without my phone feeling like it was going to boil itself to death. Only 3 solutions to this:
  1. Let Edge sleep the tabs as that would "fix" the issue.
  2. Use Firefox for Android with uBlock Origin and block the element entirely
  3. Petition Null to make a user config option to remove Sneedchat. Even if it's just "Don't show me chat" thing that sets a cookie, it'd be better than literally nothing.
On a tangent but why is Sneedchat embedded absolutely fucking everywhere? Especially the teeny tiny version above posts. I know that's how it was with the AJAX chat but it was a stupid idea then and it's a stupid idea now. Just keep the chat button up top and the larger embed on the home page.

I would like to ask null to give us the option of disabling sneedchat, as I for one never use it. I believe it has come up before and was ignored, so at this point I have to assume it has a quiet secondary purpose. Possibly part of the bot detection system? It HAS to have a major effect on server load, in which case it would reduce operation costs if a decent chunk of the regular users have it disabled.

Well yeah, true. I did have phones just randomly ACK! and freeze or reboot on heavy loads in the past, but that's still the fucking phones fault.
Smartphones are the troons of Internet capable devices that no one should use beyond literal shitposting on the toilet. Websites shouldn't have to be built around not making shitty devices kill themselves.

I do agree with that. I don't see the use of that tiny window, displaying a single message at best. Can't even write in it.

I wasn't sure if that message was meant to pertain to lolcow.email or general forum emails as well.

Some random attachments seem to have "Attachment cannot be shown at this time" errors. They won't show up as thumbnails and they won't open in separate tabs. Using Ungoogled Chromium on Clearnet.

Here's a couple examples:

I'm not sure what's causing this and it seems to be at complete random because every attachment in the Elaine OP still works just fine, as do most in most threads.
