Editing a message in sneedchat currently wipes anything embedded in it
A feature to allow you to insert quotes while editing a message would help people who are trying to avoid doubleposting.

Sorry, I mean specifically when editing an existing message, not writing a new one; that's why I mentioned not doubleposting. Right now if I want to add a response to someone's message to my existing message, I click reply, cut the quote from the message window, open the edit window, paste the quote, add my response, hit save. I could cut out a few steps if that insert quotes box was available on the edit window.

How can I find the reason why I was shown a message saying "your ip has been banned" rather than the usual forums content? Is it because it's an IP in the UK?

I just received that message myself, but I was using a VPN and the location was set to a US city. Changing to a different US location has fixed it for now. My assumption was someone else posting using the same VPN and location got banned, but your post has got me thinking something else is going on.

I got a reply to my question in the private talk to staff forum - it was collateral fallout from taking action against some other issue and only temporary (now resolved).

site is running slippery today

Hover-over reaction menu for latest profile posts is broken on /whats-new/. Clicking for "Like" works but hovering or right-clicking has no effect. Onionsite on Tor Browser.

I got the same IP banned message yesterday, using a VPN set to the Netherlands from the UK. The site currently won't load on clearnet (Page could not be loaded message) posting this via Tor.

Been having weird browser/vpn issues loading the site. Between Firefox and Chrome sometimes only Chrome will load the site and even then theres a chance it requires me to refresh my VPN or switch to Obfuscated Servers first. Its a transient issue because sometimes everything just works as normal, this has been going on for like a week.

I'm in a rare fix it mood. . Get your request in now
Remove the character limit for profile posts.

It looks like one of the front-end nodes is dead or not routing right.

curl: ( 28 ) Failed to connect to 205.185.114.106 port 443 after 10001 ms: Timeout was reached
From both my VPN and my VPS.

One of those sites that checks http to the IP from multiple locations also fails.

You'd think Josh would have this sort of monitoring automated.

I guess he does, by a fleet of retards.

Not sure what the culprit is, but my alerts have been not working for some while now. Mostly that entails not getting notification for threads I watch, but also can be quotes or reactions to my posts. Looked into my preferences, but everything is checked. Any ideas ?

I will look into this. It has something to do with you not checking the thread in a while or never clearing your alerts

Fix your browser timezone
Not sure what a browser timezone is, but my system timezone is definitely correct. This happens on both Firefox and Chrome on my desktop, and Brave on my phone.
Here is an example of the above post in this thread:

Logged out
logged_out.png

Logged in
logged_in.png

If I rip the timestamp for this post from page source, I get "1768014675". Converting this to human date, for my timezone, GMT+1, I see the correct value of "Jan 10 2026 04:11:15", but the value displayed when logged out seems to correspond to GMT-5, "Jan 09 2026 22:11:15"

Curiously, if the post is very recent (X minutes ago), then it works fine both logged in and logged out.

Hopefully this helps.

EDIT: Messed up timezone conversions
