Probably and yet Harri Kuokkanen from Ride For Revenge/Hail Conjurer plays in Hooded Menace. I'd highly recommend both bands but you said "no satanism".
Not to be autistic, but I said bands that don’t lean into satanism. Emphasis on lean. I know that to some extend you're never going to escape it. I'm just tired of it being the core identity of so many extreme metal bands and appreciate when it's not the case.

Sulphur Aeon. It's all about the Lovecraftian horrors and the Old Ones. Maybe don't start with their latest album as it's easily the most melodic and "softest" one.

Give me some great extreme metal bands that don’t lean into satanism, raping women, extreme gore, or what have you.

Some of my favorites:

Death
Bolt Thrower
Drudkh
The Ruins of Beverast
Nagelfar
Hooded Menace
Ulver
Amorphis
Grenadier
Bogside Sniper Squadron
Kanonenfieber
Scythelord
Minenwerfer
Infectious Jelqing
Throwing out Chainsword as a rec. Shameless Bolt Thrower ripoff and they own it.
Wonder if they had to get permission to use the Khorne symbol. From what I can tell GW loves raping people who use anything associated with their properties.

If you won't tell James Workshop, I won't.

Been looking up some more French BM since it's my thing. You'd think Metal Archives would have some kind of feature to look up albums and sort by release date/year but apparently not so I'm just randomly clicking on bands. Progress is slow but here's some albums I liked.

Throwing some Teitanblood as I'm listening to their newest album right now:

Some Blue Hummingbird on the Left ...

... who shares members with Volahn (and Volahn himself being involved in BHOTL):

Then there is an album that involves Alan from Primordial and J. Reid from Revenge. It's a bit of an odd one and never got any real attention and got very overlooked tho as it doesn't bear any melodies like Primordial and is probably to "experimental" for Revenge-Fans. Nevertheless I like it.

Speaking of Primordial, a band that seems to be highly underrated but is one of my favourites.

You mentioned Nagelfar/Ruins of Beverast so you might already know about Lunar Aurora. If not then I highly recommend to check out all their albums. You should start with the first one and go on chronologically. You'll find all of them on their bandcamp page.

Ulver got brought up so if you are not aware of it you should totally check out the very first album of Borknagar. Personally not a fan of what followed and what the band turned into but the first one is easily of the best Black Metal albums of all time. No corpsepaint Hail Satan! Black Metal.

And you should check out Enslaved from Norway. I don't know how much you are into anything that is considered to be avantgard/progressive/psychedelic (some how) bc Enslaved took a wild evolution over the years and I mean a really w i l d o n e if you compare their first album and their latest but I recommend to check them out at least until the album "Below the lights".

Almost forgot about Hate Forest. This is their newest album.
My favourite albums tho are "Purity" and "Hour of the Centaur" (which they released after 15 years of hiatus).

A few years before Hate Forest a split between them and Ildjarn was released. Weirdly enough, Ildjarn were already split up at this point and vanished into obscurity but Vidar aka Ildjarn had to release a statement explaining that the music that is labeled as Ildjarn on this release is not music recored by Ildjarn (or Nidhoegg, a band Ildjarn worked with closely). Again, as you brought up Ulver and just in case you aren't aware of Ildjarn you should give them a try. Back in the day they were pretty obscure and not that much known as their Black Metal was considered too fucking raw by too many. Also back in the day many thought Ildjarn would only use drum machines but in fact they did not.

The imagery of their last album is really playing chicken with how much you can legally not reference 40k. They even made a cheeky comment on spotify that they might be safe from a lawsuit by Bolt Thrower since BT split up. Fun fact: I knew a girl in Atlanta who got a cease and desist from Bolt Thrower for making bootleg shirts. I bet they have the same lawyers as GW.

Pantera fired Big Val (head of security, you can see him a lot in the home videos) over something very similar. From Rex's book:
The breaking point came when we found out that he was making his own Pantera t-shirts with our fucking logo on them and planned to sell them front of house at shows. He wasn’t a celebrity, he was a fucking security guard, but I guess it’s inevitable and halfway acceptable to think you’re a star when you’re in a position like he was. But the line is crossed when a security guy starts using our name for his own monetary gain.
“What the fuck are we going to do about this?” Darrell asked me.
“What fucking choice do we have?” I asked him. “Make up your mind and do whatever you want to do.”
So Dime fired him. At least he finally saw sense and made the right call.

These dudes really lose touch with the scene they come out of when they get outraged over DIY merch.

Wife and I were marathoning Cradle of Filth videos last night in honour of Cobra. This being my very first time hearing them, I have to say they're.... completely inoffensive. Perfectly milquetoast symphonic black metal.

This video in particular has everything you could ever want that kicks ass - slavery, lighting sorcery, vampire babes, werepanthers.

It's rather Hot Topic-edgy black metal, and Dani Filth's vocals are grating imo, but the riffs in Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids are top notch:

Also was reminded of when CoF was on Viva la Bam (I can't find the clips, only the warning Dani gave):

I was glad Cruelty and the Beast got a remix/remaster. The original production was really atrocious, especially listening to it now.

I think they would've been fine if Al cut them in.
Money always talks no matter where you come from.

That said, no band will dethrone Metallica over Napster.
