>Media literacy is cooked
I'm not exactly sure what this media literacy meme is. I see it everywhere with online fags, so what was I supposed to be reading into the death of Homelander, according to them?
The online fags are just hitting you with a "you just don't get iiiiit. It went over your head" gaslighting maneuver. Which is very sad to me because they are making media literacy uncool.

Here's a better ending that would satisfy the actually media literate: Homelander sucks Butchers dick to survive and live as a normal human. The lefties would be satisfied with the sexual humiliation of the Trump stand-in, the dick sucking would go viral, but most importantly, Homelander gets an actually satisfying conclusion to his character arc. All he wanted was to be revered instead of feared, instead, he becomes reviled and mocked instead of feared. In fact, he either spends the rest of his life in prison, or he gets stabbed to death by a random ordinary human.

This is the disgusting porn show where male rape is funny, right? Don't chicken out at the last second. I wonder whether (((Kripke))) considered it, but Anthorny Starr refused.

Of course, you would have to rewrite the entirety of season 5 to where Homelander actually goes on his earthwrecking rampage so you could have de-powered Homelander be stabbed or lynched by victims of his crimes.

You're telling me this doesn't even happen? I tuned out halfway through episode 2 of the season because it was so boring lol.

That's the "themes and such" you're feeling. It played out exactly like The Chicken Man said it would. It's supposed to be unsatisfying. Capitalism won. Capitalism always wins. Aren't you mad? Go out and do something about it.
Go and do something about it-like watching the new spinoff shows and paying for more Amazon Prime.

It's like a crack dealer telling you not to do drugs. Then he sells more crack.

It's like what a friend of mine once called it: the unholy marriage of greed and liberal preaching. The same people who tell you that capitalism is the problem are the ones making the most money out of it.

Dude I can't tell you how much I hate the whole

"Erm akshully it's brilliant you're just not smart enough to comprehend it chuddy" thing.

I understand it perfectly. It's fucking vile Jewish degeneracy designed to be as disgusting and awful as humanly possible for shock value and also to subtlety shift your personal Overton window so that you become more accepting of such things in the future.

It actually kind of fucking insults me that you think I can't see exactly what you heebs are trying to do.

While The Boys might have failed as a deconstruction of the superhero genre or political satire,
Political satire is dead. Deconstructions of the superhero genre are also dead.

There is nothing to deconstruct. People no longer believe in superheroes. So why give a fuck when a superhero curses, rapes, or murders people?

let's appreciate what it unexpectedly (and unintentionally) achieved - Kripke managed to create the best PSA about dangers of porn addiction to date.
His porn-addled brain gave birth to memes which will immortalize his juvenile legacy.

Trauma to men has never mattered to the writers. I'm surprised they weren't cracking jokes about it or blaming him for it happening like they did with Hughie
When a woman gets raped, it's either an unforgivable crime or rape as drama.

When a guy gets raped, it's played for laughs.

The last time I saw a show take male sexual trauma seriously was Game of Thrones, and that was when they had Ramsay Bolton cut off Theon Greyjoy's dick after he was revved up by a prostitute. It wasn't so much rape as it was mutilation of a sexual organ.

We didn't get big bad scary Homelander tearing the US infrastructure apart.
And yet we also didn't get active Vought disassembly.
Well, gotta keep the door open for spinoffs! It's a franchise now, meaning that the VCU has made the jump from parody to reality.

Starlight wasn't even part of Homelander's death.
Starlight was there to be preachy in the show. In the comics, at least Garth Ennis used her for fanservice.

The Gen V crew weren't even worth inserting.
Marie Moreau, who should've been their hard counter to V1 Homelander, was as useless as a pile of bricks.

Having her hold Homelander down while Soldier Boy blasted him in the face was how he should've been defeated. Instead, her entire plotline and the whole "she's just like Homelander" thing was a waste of time. Homie could've lasered them all in half at the end of Gen V and it wouldn't have changed anything.

What was the point of all of this again?
The same as the Mando movie that came out recently: MONEY!

Like what someone said here, the Homelander plotline should've ended at Season 3 with Soldier Boy depowering him and Butcher killing him, then move on to Stan Edgar being the real big bad due to him controlling Vought. Instead, they stretched it out for two more seasons of filler.

And I thought there was enough of Pedro Pascal.

I find it shocking all the time that lefties write racist characters who never say "nigger".

I mean it unironically.
Yeah no I find that to be the biggest case of spineless behavior, they'll let homophobic characters say Faggot but apparently racist characters saying Nigger is the line they can't cross.

I genuinely think it's because the retarded audience would be calling for everyone's head, that it's indicative of who the writers are as people (Sadly this type of viewer exists), the sin they'll never be forgiven for. Or maybe they think it's too cartoonish for racist characters to say nigger.

Who knows

NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER! See? Not that hard to say it.

So it seems Homelander's actor refused to show up for any of the screenings of the final episode and has called out the writters.

You can't even pay people to say this slop is good.
Starr probably saw all the "ill eat your shit" memes plastered on every corner of the internet and finally realized Kripke's kikery could hurt his reputation.

He's been pretty open about his desire for more high prestige leading man roles and I'm sure this isn't helping.

I remember seeing some people suggest the scene with homelander saying he can suck dick and eat shit was made using AI, now I doubt it was, but it would be hilarious if it was and Kripke fucked over Starr to own the chuds

But publicly distancing himself will. He's got a tightrope to walk which is to make it clear he doesn't approve it whilst being professional enough to not throw people who've employed him under the bus. But... he can do that. It only requires enough small comments on his part for people to get the message, because we know what it takes to get even a small breaking of the ranks from cast members.

He has the advantage that everyone has seen just how good he can be. Even me just watching some of S1 I was thinking: "This guy is really good." He brought a lot to the role.

Superheroes have been doing shitty things since decades ago, this ain't even a new concept. Maybe the comic was a deconstruction of the genre (I haven't read it, so I can't say much), but the show is obviously not following that either. It's a show, like many other adaptations, about the main writer's views using someone else's characters to have their project greenlighted because I don't think someone had just allowed "Let's kill and rape Trump", the movie.

It will.

Its like how the guy who played Chuck couldn't find alternative roles for a while

Or the guy who got raped in Deliverance as well.

We really live in an era where all the old franchises are getting violated by hacks who hate their audience.
It's funny looking back at the original deconstruction of superheroes when within the span of a year superhero comics went from this

He probably didn't expect that "I'll eat your shit" screencap to go as viral as it did, it is fucking everywhere. I've even seen boomers on Facebook posting it.

He's probably with his agent rn trying to figure out how to stop being known as the "I'll eat your shit" guy.
