I’m having fun, but what do I know I’ve only been playing Elder Scrolls since the early 2000’s when I played Morrowind on my Xbox.
It absolutely boggles my mind that despite things like this happening, people will still try to claim that Bethesda is one of the most anti Modding game companies despite literally the opposite being true.

If Combat is what you’re worried about then I suggest going somewhere else. Combat has always been clunky in Elder Scrolls but that’s part of the charm IMO.
Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon has a demo, it looks to be one of the first potentially successful “Scrollslikes” and hopefully will inspire more Dev teams to do “Scrollslikes”
If a developer can scratch the itch that Bethesda games do for me, I’ll gladly drop Bethesda. But nobody but them tries to make those kinds of games.
It’s all Soulslikes or pixel art games where you play as a female ginger minority.
The kinds of games I like are being made by AAA studios unfortunately but once in a while a game like Atomfall comes around.

True in a literal sense but worth stating the exact reason - Oblivion's UI and gameplay was such because it was going for 'cross platform' as a launch target. That was a fairly notable departure from the norm at the time (mid 2000s) and a prominent criticism of it back then was how oversize and clunky the UI felt on PC as a result of unification across high-res and low-res screen and disparate input methods (keyboard/mouse and controller). A lot was lost from Morrowind to Oblivion and almost all of it can be pinned on this decision to target cross-platform at release.

Do you remember the consoomer crying tears of joy when they revealed the switch 2 was going to have a gamecube emulator? That, and the reaction to this release, has given me some insight, I have a theory:
NPCs and consoomers lack function in the part of the brain that is responsible for tying memories together. For example, if I think about "Bethesda", I immediately think about the Todd Howard memes, then I think about all the hours I spent playing Skyrim, other Bethesda games like Fallout 4 or Daggerfall might come to mind, then I'll start thinking about other things I relate to those until my train of thought ends, or I get distracted.
Consoomers are incapable of this, they don't ever "remember" anything unless it gets brough up by a second party, their focus is never diverted away from current thing, and their memories exist inside their head in isolation, there's nothing that could trigger the memory into being recalled aside from the thing itself.
Sure, they could have played Oblivion at any point within the last 20 years, but it would never, ever occur to them to do that, not until corporation puts it in front of them once again. It's like they need permission from corporation to play these games again, because without corporation bringing it to their attention, it might as well not exist. This is why nostalgia pandering is so effective against these individuals, because they haven't even thought about these games since they were last relevant.
Now that it's been current thing-ified, they have permission, they must play it, until corporation is no longer pushing it to the forefront and the memory of the game fades back into an atomized bubble.

Essentially, yes. Combat and spellcasting will be like Skyrim (unless you use mods obviously). Other things like alchemy, enchanting, levelling up etc are closer to Oblivion.

Just a lore annoyance I have, the cultural division in nords is the ones who are around cities and the ones that live in the wilderness (Skaal, bandits, hunters) not eastern and western.

I played Oblivion for the first time last year, and then tried to play Morrowind. Oblivion is an old game, but I can play it, finish it, just fine. Morrowind I spent some 10 hours going around the world and still having no clue where I need to go to continue (start?) my main quest.
As someone not involved in the franchise, Oblivion did not need a remake, it is perfectly accessible, with a sane(r) UI. Morrowind feels like a game from another century in comparison.
The soul stuff is just nostalgia and stuff. Also, if all I see in here is real, there is a bunch of slop in the new game.

Yes but making this huge spectacle of them deleting such an innocuous mod it's just something else that will hopefully show them for what they are and break their stranglehold. It was the most endorsed mod and had like hundreds of comments in support of it.
