Has anyone here watched the movie all the way through? The first scenes were absolutely amazing, but the flashback during the highlight pissed me off to the point that I stopped watching. Should I give it another try?

honestly this is one of my favorite movies. it's a bit silly at times, sure, but the overall pacing, story, and twist at the end got me pretty hype. it's the director's first film, too. everyone I know that likes movies has never heard of it so I always advocate for this movie getting more publicity!

I say give it another try!

Doesn't look too bad, what happened in the flashback that pissed you off?
Well, I just wanted more insight on the new characters and the current situation they were experiencing. I wanted Greg to at least explain the weird shit he saw in the cavern, with Paul cross legged staring at the inhuman skeleton. It felt like they left that story fully unanswered. Which, as much as I hate it, I guess it’s why I enjoy it too. Because I have so many questions

*edit* @amieth thanks, bro!! The vibes for this one hit me in a way I haven’t found in another horror yet. I’ll give it another shot

It's a very interesting movie because every 20 minutes or so, it becomes something totally different.
Whenever you think you have this movie figured out, it pulls the rug from under you and switches tones and subgenres.
I need to watch it again because I probably missed a lot of things.
I recommend this one since it's something different and you will get a nice feeling from not being able to predict where the movie is going.

I'm almost sure that they made the first scenes as a short film to sell the idea and then built the rest of the movie around it.
It's a really good movie, it's kind of like The Void in the sense that they grabbed some stuff from Lovecraft and created their own version of it.
The Empty Man being Nyarlathotep and the cult being the Starry Wisdom Cult, changing the Shining Trapezohedron for the weird skeleton, etc.
If you like the Lovecraftian stuff i'd reccomend The Void and the HBO series 30 coins (which also features Nyarlothotep, but in this case it's a mix between him and satan)
