TL;DR: There is a persistent threat to the forum which I believe to be UnrealSkybox. Until I have a better plan, registrations will be closed when I am not actively monitoring the forum.

I believe his name is James R. Conrad based off the posts in that thread and I believe it is him because (1) he has a history of doing this and (2) he took credit.
Apparently the name James Conrad is some faggot from Steam trolling clique Gamerfood that UnrealSkybox hates. His real name may be David Hoffman but I really doubt he has the most stereotypical jew name ever.
This appears to be a known criminal with years of history involved in DDoS attacking game servers, spamming websites, and trading child pornography + zoophile material. Despite this, and despite having been brought to the attention of the NCMEC and DFW ICAC, he is free to continue being a human blight.
In October we saw about 1500 accounts register in an instant and today after opening registrations almost a month later I have observed an identical bot flood. These bots engage in general spam (post spam, reaction spam, follow spam, etc). They have also been used to upload what is either child pornography or what could be passed off as child pornography. The precise list of these files is then reported to our service providers. However, when this person did this last time, all files were deleted so quickly no service provider could even action the complaint.

This makes dealing with the automated flood very, very difficult and the stakes are so high that I'm at a loss about what to do with it. This isn't just a some random faggot who's making sock accounts, this is a dangerous pedophile who supposedly has years of experience defeating anti-spam measures on 4chan of all places so as to be able to upload child pornography there.
For right now we are going to have a Day and Night cycle on the forum. When I am awake and monitoring the forum, it will be Day and registrations will be open. When it is night time and I cannot monitor the Kiwi Farms, I will close registration to invite-only.
In the future, I will devise a tiered registration system.
This is extremely frustrating because obviously I want new users. I want fresh blood, exciting new stuff for people to talk about, and a zero-friction registration system which allows anyone to jump on and start posting. Unfortunately we're just kind of in this era of the Internet where it's getting impossible to run a little site. The counter-measures to a gay pedophile spending pennies on the dollar for VPN access and captcha solvers are either to purchase enormously expensive enterprise solutions for major services that already make a ton of money, or to close the gate and slowly starve like in a medieval siege.

- Started his attack by simply DDoS attacking the forum.
- Uses thousands of real email addresses from real providers like gmail, outlook, and hotmail.
- Uses tens of thousands of VPN IPs.
- He also uses tens of thousands of IPs from "Residential Private Networks", which are "free" VPN services that actually sell your IP address to spammers so that their activity cannot be identified as coming from a commercial service provider.
- Is able to pass off all CAPTCHA providers to CAPTCHA solvers to bypass anti-bot challenges.
- Is completely lifeless and dedicated to this task. Publicly posted invites were found and used by him, and after a full month of no engagement he noticed registrations were open within hours.

- Buy an invitation. For $20 you can just buy an account that has full access to the forum and comes with the green banner.
- Get an invitation. Receive any ordinary invitation and bypass the probation period where posts need to be manually approved.
- ???. Join the forum through a probationary system.
