Oh hey, good Star Trek is back!
I've not read all this thread because I'm only part way through S4 (Isaac and the doctor have just started dating which is... um, ooookay). I never even looked at this show before because of Family Guy which I loathe but it's actually pretty good. The characters are real and it manages to go from silly comedy to pretty serious without any seeming trouble. Which I think it only manages because it never breaks character for the sake of a joke. Bortis' moustache - you could see him falling for the suggestion.
I almost stopped watching at the 2nd or 3rd episode because of the sex change plotline but it scraped through with representing a viewpoint and not coming down on the side of the Moclan culture. I like that there's a callback to it later where we find Klydon's decision to go ahead with the surgery is severely damaging their marriage.
So far my biggest beef with the show is losing Lt. Ktan. She was my favourite character. Supremely likeable and relatable and insanely pretty. I couldn't find anything online about why she left the show. Then they replaced her with a stand-in Salayan (sp?) character who even if not following on from one of my favourite characters I wouldn't like. Unattractive, grating and "Ha ha, I punched him because he was male" introduction. I don't like her manner, her Mary Sueness or her beady little eyes. Bring back Ktan. I hope she returns. I'd love to know why she left.
Considering there are two seasons and you're talking about watching the fourth, I'm not sure if this is some joke I'm not getting, but it's very well established why Kitan left.
The actress was fucking Seth MacFarlane and they broke up. I think the counterfit Kitan is cause the season was already written with the original character in place and they kept it as close as possible.
I figured there must be some backstory behind her leaving which is why I was curious. I didn't know what, though. Well that sucks. I've softened a little on her replacement. I think she's okay, just a bad introduction and replacing a, sorry to say it, better character and actress. So what happened - do we know? Did she dump him and get kicked off the show? He dumped her and she quit?
It's ironic this happened given the recurrent theme of the show is the captain's (Seth's) ability to work with his ex.
They weren't together by the time the show started. To me it seems that she already had signed a contract to star on another production so she couldn't be on both shows.Considering there are two seasons and you're talking about watching the fourth, I'm not sure if this is some joke I'm not getting, but it's very well established why Kitan left.

What I wanna know is why the actress doesn't want the prothesis on her right ear(it's always covered by her hair.
Based on the CGI I'd guess this was a video game not a TV show, but I assume that maybe they're still working on it.From Seth's Twitter account:

The third season has been delayed again. The premiere is now for June 2nd.
They've released the first couple of minutes of the season premiere followed by the new opening theme/title.
By the second time the kid ran past the windows of what appeared to be the same set piece it felt like it was going in a loop. Looks like a dream sequence, anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. In the credits, there appears to be a new female member of the cast which I guess is old news but its news to me since I all but forgot about the show after the frustrating 2nd season and then the long hiatus. Nice to see that they're moving on from losing Alara and have included new waifu-bait, I guess. Talla Keyali wasn't cutting it.Based on the CGI I'd guess this was a video game not a TV show, but I assume that maybe they're still working on it.
Between Norm MaacDonald already recording his lines before dying and his surprise stand-up he recorded in the event of his death, it’s good to get new stuff again. Having good Star Trek is just extra icing in the cake. Here's the trailer for the third season of The Orville:
It’s mainly the same thing only with a bit more comedy to it, so maybe? As someone who thought Star Trek was boring space communist shit, will I like the Orville?
I'll give it a try. It’s mainly the same thing only with a bit more comedy to it, so maybe?
As a heads up, the pilot/first episode is more “Star Trek parody” in nature since that’s how Seth had to pitch it to get it made. So if you’re not enjoying the comedy, it’s gets better an episode or two in.I'll give it a try.
I like Seth when he's trying, so I'll hang on if it's eh.As a heads up, the pilot/first episode is more “Star Trek parody” in nature since that’s how Seth had to pitch it to get it made. So if you’re not enjoying the comedy, it’s gets better an episode or two in.
