I’m not even sure it’s about psychiatric issues in many cases, except for that not insignificant crowd with autism (though I guess that’s more of a developmental disorder). I suspect lack of basic life skills, unrealistic expectations where any discomfort is seen as something to be avoided at any cost and that it’s somebody else’s job to fix it and, most importantly, social contagion explain a lot. And basic bitch LOOK AT MEEEE compounded by social media. Plus kids being brought up in a way in the last twenty or so years that basically eradicates the ability to develop an internal locus of control.
