The Shin Megami Tensei/Persona Thread

The Persona 1 PSP music is so grating. I can't stand it. I'd love to play a remastered version on the PC though (the Megami Ibunroku Persona version translated).
didn't a group of translators try to translate the japanese ps1 version but then gave up and went like "just play the psp version lol"? i think it was worked on like a decade ago but it was dropped for some reason

Does he get fancy with instant ramen like Haachama?
He spends the majority of his money on art supplies. About 80% of his diet is bean sprouts. The rest is junk food that's probably being provided by his friends. Remember the lobsters? Those were bought purely for their beauty. He had no plans of eating them.

So, I got Strikers the other day and it's fine so far for what it is. Something about the level design I don't much care for. I want to say its the dull aesthetics relative to the motif, but platforming isn't satisfying either. It's kinda like Arkham where occupying the highest ground is preferred, but getting around can get confusing. The game does feel more like committee than Royal, which actually did fix 5's problems.
Outside of combat, it feels very diet persona. Its got more than enough charm in the characters to carry but the prisons are all a bit uninspired.

so, how is that nocturn remaster going? seen clips and the game looks so... bright now. unnaturally so. the ost sounds like ass and the voice acting is a hit and miss.

heard the switch uses got fucked over (again. nintendo fans are like beat up housewife's at this point). makes me worried for SMT5
My biggest gripe is the voice acting, I don't think it adds anything to the game other than detracting from the lonely atmosphere Nocturne has. (It's also probably partly why the game costs more than the $20 it should have been).

The VAing also has the weird Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates problem where instead of being fully voiced some dialogue has the same 3 canned voice lines they recorded.

Skill inheritance overhaul is nice, but it begs the question; if they gave that QoL why not address other problem areas the game has? (e.g. Hard mode item cost/hard mode attack from behind = instant death early game)

The game is not worth it's $50 asking price except maybe if you can't emulate the original, and the $70 "deluxe" edition is just highway robbery. I want to support SMT because I don't want Persona to be the only Megaten games we get anymore, but Atlas is being even greedier than usual with this.

I heard the improved performance for switch to not have random lag spikes but that seems to be a thing that they improved on PS4 as well. still locked at 30 though at all consoles which is weird (probably something tied to game logic that would break if 60).

The only thing that is making me hold onto my Playstation 4 is the fact that Persona 6 may eventually be released for it, otherwise I'd jump ship to Xbox (not a PC guy). Does anyone think if/when it is released, it would be released on other consoles? Or is it going to be strictly PS4/5? Obviously it's just speculating but it's interesting nonetheless.

Atlus sneaked in an "absolute unit" meme in the port for one of the sidequests as well:

Sticking with the original is wise at this point, plus SMT became Persona-lite in recent years anyway. No use supporting that shit.

I was really gung-ho about the port at first, but the fact that the PC port is 50 bucks and it isn't even 60fps is really making me willing to wait until it gets cracked.

I had a PS5 in-basket on the Gamestop website a couple of hours ago (they are rare as fuck where i am atm and restocks go in minutes) and i cancelled it because i realised i only want the Demons Souls remake and Persona 6 and i'm about 99.9% sure that Persona 6 will be on something other than the PS5 as well eventually.

Futaba seems like someone who would have a thread in Beauty Parlor, have a Kiwifarms account, or both. Yusuke would probably be an artcow. His thread would mostly discuss his terrible financial habits. I imagine his cooking isn't any better.

with the exception of persona 1 and innocent sin Atlus has usually been pretty late to the party with releasing persona titles. Eternal Punishment was released the same year as the ps2, 3 was released the same year as the ps3, 4 was released 2 years into the ps3's lifespan, 5 is a semi exception in that it was releasedaround the midpoint of the ps4's lifespan however it was also the last ps3 release that wasn't a sports title, music game, or shovelware. Persona 6 is most likely going to be a cross gen title or also on pc and/or switch and xbox
