The Soviet Red Army was notably one of the only armed forces in WW2 to build entire squadrons armed with solely submachine guns, in this case, the PPSH-41. It weirds me out because the PPSH doesn't have much function outside of close-quarter combat. 1250RPM, 71rnd drum magazines (however did they start using 35rnd sticks later on in the war, the drums were unreliable and they rattled very loudly), yet you'd have these massive battalions dependent on it. Fucking terrifying to say the least - I assume it'd be extremely effective in a scenario like Stalingrad, but essentially useless in any other.

During urban fighting the sub-guns would be used as suppressive fire (spraying down any window/door/corner that a Kraut could possibly be in/behind) buying time for a tank or field gun to blow away any sort of AT gun or machine gun nest.
Also in comparison to the previous guns we were sperging about the PPSH is quite young.

Again, true, I got reminded of subguns and the first one that came to my mind was the PPSH. Literally the only subgun that was fielded in WW1 was the MP18, nothing else.

The prototypes were mostly limited to semi-auto, they were pistol carbines, not subguns. And the VP was meant to be used as a portable, smaller machine gun... so it probably also counts. oops.
Anyway I think it's best if we stopped around here or else we'd be both risking a perma threadban for excessive derailing.

Okay what's next? My dox docs in Username Hall of Shame and thread in prospering grounds? Or someone would have a decency to send me sonichu medallion with Sonichu.exe of my design?

Give it about 3 more months and I live close enough to Rekieta that I can pick the medallion off his charred skeleton after he sets the house and everyone in it on fire.
The medallion will somehow be in pristine condition.
