Watching it at 2x speed and Sleepless is the only one who seems to have any kind of personality. The dude is boring as shit that sounds like he can only react, but not come up with anything new, and Lydia isn't interesting at all.

I like that Lydia jumps to Judaism being offended and Sleepless just brings up Islam would murder you for something like this, and then calls Christianity cucked for not putting up a fight, as well as voting with your dollar doesn't work against mega corpos.

I made it through about half of the whole episode last night before I had to turn it off. Them complaining about some literally who wearing a bikini that offended Sleepless was the most energetic thing that happened on the show. If this is the top tier content Tim is bringing with his subscriber money this whole thing is going to end badly for everyone involved.

But I suspect everyone here already knew Tim's enterprise was headed for disaster.

Is the whole episode what was posted here or is there hours of this shit like with IRL? I can't imagine the kind of person who listens to this because while Sleepless is ok, she still seems really new and without footing in this so she can't carry it on her own and the others don't help. Even listening to 16 minutes on 2x speed felt like a chore.

I'm going to give Tim the benefit of the doubt as I did before, and say that he didn't hire Brett to do this show but rather for some other function and at some point Brett just offered to do a show with Miracle for free on top of their other shit because there was studio space available. This is backed up with Tim advertising his other projects that he hired on for specifically like Inverted World, Cast Castle (though that was his brother), his music monkey Carter, and his video game shit, but not Pop Culture Crisis and Brett was there for some time before he was on a show.

By the way, does anyone know if Carter is still there or did he get the axe?

It's an entire show like IRL and has been going a decent time. It's on it's own channel.

Much like Tim and his stuff, it's not an issue of being completely terrible so much as it's just... There. It's ok background noise while I'm doing housework to hear about some stuff and doesn't have all the drama that so many other pop culture aggregators and commentators have but there's not much of a pull to actively engage like they seem to try and push with stuff like the money guns.

I'll take the rightful criticism that I accept mediocre so readily, but what can I do when there's hardly fuck all else that even manages to come close to raising above that bar? Tim has his audience because there's enough people who've been so beaten down by outright garbage that they'll just take whatever they can get at this point.

Hell, literally had a conversation today buying bargain bin DVDs when I pointed out Pacific Rim to who I was with. Another guy there said "Eh, it wasn't that great, kinda just OK." and we both agreed that 'kinda OK' is a glowing review compared to all the other shit we have today.

Really if I wanted mediocre pop culture shit I'd just watch Clownfish. I think what bothers me about the show, from the little I've seen, is Brett, dude just seems to have no personality and not in the way of just being boring but rather vapid.

As for Pacific Rim, I remember seeing it in 3D IMAX because someone I knew wanted to watch it and bought tickets for myself a couple others. It was fun in the moment and the effects were nice, but that's all it was and that's fine, I'd rather a movie be just fun for a single watch than have some kind of message like all mass consumption media does these days. That and it was probably one of the last movies to come out before the internet intellectual shit happened, where every movie needs to be inspected for every little flaw, like how stupid the piloting of the mechs is, instead of just being something you watch for a couple hours and move on. Though really why it sticks out, is from what I remember the main mech was called "Gypsy Danger" and that's a no-no word these days.

While I can often make it through a full two hours of Timcast (praise be unto our Lord of Graphene for his timely non sequiturs) Pop Culture Crisis is several layers of awful. After trying a few episodes I now cringe when Sleepless or Brett are on Timcast. There are lots of valid criticisms of Tim in this thread but at least he's been out in the world and has some basis for his opinions, at least he's somewhat knowledgeable about more than zoomer nonsense. In Wednesday's episode Brett admitted he doesn't really follow newer shows and movies (which is fucking retarded considering his whole show is about modern pop culture), and Mary?

I've gone 180 on her. She seemed like she might be interesting (compared to other people in to Poolverse) but at one point during yesterday's episode she was actively, unironically calling for nudity and sex scenes to be removed from entertainment through the use of so-called decency laws (27:10). She doesn't understand that nudity in film can be used to convey vulnerability, instill revulsion or even demonstrate liberation. It has a ton of valid, artistic uses but she's so caught up pretending to be a good Catholic she's knee-jerk offended by any sexual content.

They go into this when talking about an article where some actress says she regretted her past sex scenes. At 24:18 Mary comments on nudity in The Shining, she says she doesn't understand what the nudity in that movie was supposed to accomplish. If she can't parse that is the film's way of showing the hotel seducing Jack Torrence then she is completely fucking unqualified to critique film at all. The nudity in that movie is supposed to make you uncomfortable. The attractive naked woman is immediately juxtaposed with a bloated, disgusting version of the same woman which shows the audience the end result of the hotel's seduction is corruption and death. I'm just an autist shitposter and even I can see that.

A person this clueless about the artistic merit of sex and nudity in film, predicated solely upon her limited understanding of Christian values, has no business hosting a daily podcast about pop culture. There's a world of difference between nudity and porn. If I wanted to watch a woman clutch her pearls at the thought of sex while pretending her false modesty comes from moral outrage rather than her deep rooted insecurities, well, Brittany Venti still streams from time to time.

Edited to add: Sorry for the sperging, the internet was out where I live yesterday and my only way to bitch about this (since I won't be a mobile KF user) would have been in the Youtube comments from my phone. I've been holding all of this in since inarticulately calling them dumb niggers in the comments section seemed like maybe not a great idea.

Decided to give it a look from about 24-32 on 2x. It sounds like Lydia is much or for banning it initially as she does all the talking and then later Sleepless chimes in.

From what I could tell in the short bit I watched, Sleepless seems to be much more willing to think before she talks but probably has some weird opinions on certain things. If I was to pitch a conspiracy, considering she likes Paris Hilton and has posed in revealing outfits for attention, when she talks about people not having to worry about being sexualized in order to keep their job, she's talking about the compound. There have been rumors that Tim knows about all the sex pest shit and supposedly the Andreas sauna clip is from the compound, so maybe they're pushing Sleepless into something. Now that's a conspiracy theory as she's an adult and should know better, but you never know if that place.

As for sex in media, I think it has a place, especially in more complex media. Hell, get anyone to talk about the rape scene in The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand and it's something people aren't comfortable with, mostly because it's a weird fetish of the author that normally writes philosophy but for whatever reason decided to throw in something out of a romance novel. Then again Rand borrowed a lot from other media considering Atlas Shrugged turns into an Asimov novel halfway through.

That's the thing about Pim that just makes me facepalm. All he does is read the news other people gathered and then finds a way to tie it into one of the same 3 or 4 topics he rants about. I get he isn't the first person out there to do the whole "read article and react" schtick but the guy used to be an actual journalist, now he's no different from the Quartering.

The thing that was rock bottom for me was when he took a news story about a troon beating a 9 year old girl in a skate competition and twisted it so he could talk about how talented of a skater he claimed he was, then made a second video so he could show skate footage.
