I always thought a succinct way of explaining it is that for woman to pass as men, they need to add elements whereas men need to subtract elements.

Woman + beard + muscle mass + bulky clothes = pass better (reasonable)
Men - fridge body - caveman brows - massive jaw = pass better (unreasonable)

Which is why men can't pass as it's much harder/outright impossible to takeaway elements than it is to add.

In hind sight I can’t believe I missed all the signs but here I am 35 trying to put the brakes on my downward spiral in life. Yes.

Before my egg cracked, I had no framework for understanding why everything in my life was so hard. I couldn't understand why I never fit in like other guys, why everything that seemed to come so easily to them never came easily to me, why I was having the particular problems with dating that I was having. All kinds of stuff.

There didn't seem to be any explanation for it, except to suppose that "I suck". That I'm just a loser.

Once my egg cracked and I understood the truth, then all of a sudden I had a framework into which all of those things fit very, very well: "you are expected to boy, but you are wired for girl." Inside of this framework, it makes sense why I would have the specific problems I was having. In fact, you would even expect me to have those problems.

I came to understand that, no, I'm not broken. I'm just fine. It's just that everything about my whole life doesn't work with how my brain is wired. And I can fix that!

Yeah. Understanding my true identity--even while I was still in the closet--did wonders for improving my self-esteem.

Maybe this is a British thing specifically but that's not how women dress for "a day at the races". Like, the dress code involves a hat but it's a formal hat with formal clothing like this:
