I'm pretty sure those surveys of younger people where there is some huge percentage of people who say they are not straight is purely people indoctrinated in the idea that, "sure if I met the right person of the same sex" but it's nothing that will ever happen.

You watch media and there is a push for being bisexual as normal. I feel like any young adult series tends to have the female lead go gay for a bit. They want that door open just a little bit in peoples minds.

It's interesting though. The push for gay rights was deconstructing the notion that being straight is the only acceptable thing. Which of course had merit. Gay people exist.
