See dude, I think you are in the right direction but you are still wrong. People are wired to recognize sexual differences, not "stereotypical traits". It's usually very easy to differentiate between men and women even if they wear the exact same clothes and same makeup (or just don't wear makeup at all). At least it is easy if they don't take cross-sex hormones and do surgeries, but often even with that it's not hard to recognise the actual sex. Just the differences between men's and women's skulls alone is usually enough for us humans to recognize if the person standing in front of us is a man or a woman.

Now, because the whole trans thing is on the front right now people are wary and recognize that if you look like a man but wear women's clothes and/or makeup you probably want to be referred to as "she". But that's demands concentration, you see a man and you need to remember he wants to be called "she", so slip ups are pretty much inevitable.
