Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

This is the trailer they should have shown people first to get some real hype instead of the first one that looked like a kids show. This looks more like what people were talking about after the screening.

Guess I'm getting one of these to paint as Powerglide

See, that’s great. I want that but Megatron, the more modern depictions of the guy are very Durden pre-war. It will never not be funny that the Decepticon Star Empire is the result of a wagie getting fucked with. Megatron: Origin has aged wonderfully in that regard

MPM Brawl is impressive, with a few caveats. First, he lacks forward ankle swivels, only side to side, which there is no excuse for after Blackout got both (Bonecrusher's feet-claw-wheel things are so fucked up he gets a pass.)

Secondly, Brawl's small, compared to Bonecrusher. This time, Blackout gets a pass because there's no hope of scaling him properly in the MPM line, but it wouldn't have taken too much of a size increase to get Brawl up to size with Bonecrusher.

Other than that I enjoy the transformation, like the paint apps, and think he's a great representation of the movie... well, "character" is a loaded term, but he's an excellent representation of the movie robot monster.

On that note, screw the movie Autobots and screw civilian humans especially, I wish we'd seen more Deception espionage versus U.S. military intelligence, with the occasional fight like in the opening Blackout assault and subsequent combat with Scorponok.

You ever play “Transformers: Decepticons” for the DS? It’s all that, it’s also got some of the best writing from the modern era of TF.

Some of the "movie Autobots are evil" fan-theories try to prove too much, but Bay & Kurtzman and whoever else is responsible really did mess up the characterization insofar as the "characters" are so unlikable that all it takes for me to favor the Decepticons is 1. they look really cool and 2. they aren't burdened with some sleazy, sophomoric attempt at making them "funny" or "relatable."

Trailer looks better, like a lot better, good to see Darkwing of all characters, hopefully him and his brotherman Dreadwind get new figs that aren’t combiner limbs.


Found a 3P model kit that’s gonna be a hybrid G1-sized ROTF/DOTM Megatron

I dig it, I can forgive the Gundam proportions because G1 Megs improved with the movieverse stylings is an awesome idea and should be supported.

SS86 Optimus Prime is a fun transformation. Pretty intuitive. Feels a bit like a 3rd party legends transformation. The backpack doesn't feel as large in person as it does in photos. That's also the front of the cab and hides the wheels. Dinobots are a good size next to him as is Ultra Magnus. It'll be very hard for Hasbro to perfect this. Maybe a smaller blue butt as that's rather large but that's all I can think of. Upper arms though do annoy me a little. Not a fan of the design, but I don't notice that in most posses. Now I just have to wait for my copies as I gave this one to my son so he doesn't have to wait.

Have two on the way so I can paint one into Nemesis or Shattered Glass.

At least Agent Knight looks good. Going to need a few to repaint as omni bots.

I do like their lie that Tarn was hard to get.

By the way, they did reveal that we'll be seeing Devestator in 2025.
Oh, and SS Galvatron should release in January 2025, and Omega Prime & Cerebros Titan Master proto types were shown off. Maybe getting reading for another release later on and using Cerebros as a teaser.

Well they were clearly going to unveil Prime at the panel but the Pianoman got out early.

The deceptions where essentially military autobots in some comics so that translates well in to being a bad guy
They are meant to be killers, the autobots aren't tbh (in my head anyway)
I liked in the animated series they didn't have guns

The background miniseries for the Bayverse had it so that they were the planet’s military force. Optimus led the science division and Megatron was lord protector. Bit of Jor-El and Zod to the usual formula.

The Commander for 2025 will be a two pack of Long Haul and Hook. I'm okay getting the two torso bots together personally and any limbs and parts they may need for the new figure. I'm hoping elbow joints will be added so I don't have to buy addon kits or get it from Japan.
