Elementary School Principal Praised After Coming Out As Transgender
In a heartfelt letter, Shannon Daniels opens up about her journey to authenticity.

A Massachusetts elementary school principal says she is “at peace” after coming out to students, parents and faculty as transgender.

Shannon Daniels opened up about her gender identity to her community at Swampscott’s Stanley Elementary School in a Feb. 6 letter, USA Today reported.

“After confronting a series of challenges last fall, I let myself imagine the possibility of being completely honest with myself and those around me,” Daniels’ letter, which can be viewed in full here, read. “I can now say it: I am transgender. For me, that means I identify as both a male and female, and I plan to move toward presenting myself and identifying as female.”

Calling the decision “intensely personal,” she added, “I know there will be questions, and I am aware of the likelihood that my transition won’t necessarily be easy for everyone. I will do everything in my power to ensure that there is no negative impact on our school community.”

Prior to making the announcement, Daniels sought advice from Asa Sevelius, principal of Heath School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, who came out as transgender last year.

Sevelius’s advice? “Stay awesome at your job. At the end of the day, the school community just wants you to show up and do your best for your students and teachers,” he said, according to the Boston Herald. “If you can do that, it’ll help people come along on your journey with you.”

Daniels said she will use her middle name, Shannon, as her first name because “it is used by both males and females, perfectly denoting my fluid gender identity.” Students, she said, should continue to refer to her as Principal Daniels, but the pronouns “she,” “he,” and “they” are all acceptable to use.

Though The Salem News pointed out that Daniels’ announcement was met with some pushback on social media, she has instead decided to focus on the support she’s received. One of her biggest advocates, she said, has been Swampscott Superintendent Pamela Angelakis, who praised her “courage, honesty and transparency” in a public letter.

Okay, I know it's obvious that a lot of male to female transsexuals naturally don't look like they're even trying, but...

I mean, he's literally not trying.

He doesn't even have long hair, wear clown makeup, or talk in a falsetto. All he did was demand to be called Shannon.

There was literally no reason to tell the whole school he was transgender. First, students rarely even can identify their principal outside of school-wide lectures. so it doesn't even matter. Second, it's nothing the students even need to know--you wouldn't make a speech over the school speakers saying you're bisexual or something, so why is this even important?

These aren't behaviors that anybody would want as the authority figure of the school, let alone somebody the school board wants in the person representing them. You can be whatever you want as long as it doesn't interfere with your work. But when you decide to advertise it, especially something so personal and controversial at an elementary school of all places, that's when it becomes a problem.

So he literally just looks like the same guy with no effort to even try to pass? Yet we must not misgender the lovely lady? This screams autogynephile. He'll be using the women's faculty bathroom. Maybe he'll be walking down the halls one day and slip into the little girls' room because he's really in a hurry. He looks like a pedo.

This shouldn't be allowed. You shouldn't have to call a man "she" because "she" decides to go by Shannon. This is a man who gets off to women's clothes and the idea of being female. I guarantee it. It's 100% autogynephila encouraged by the troon social epidemic.

Now wait a minute. He's trans but also gender fluid and is ok with he/they as well? Something does not compute.:\
It's like he took a course in Tumblr. If he was really a transwomen then the feminine pronouns would be absolutely necessary to make him feel like his true self. He's too old to be a genderfluid snowflake. All he needs are the wacky pronouns.

Any bets the principal was rubbing some authority the wrong way over an issue and is suddenly trans so that any discipline or criticism he was potentially facing will now suddenly be bigoted and evil?
>does not change his appeareance
>tells people he/she/they is fine, pronouns don't matter
>is now Shannon
Assuming this isn't just an overt diversity protected-class scam, you may as well just dress up in drag in the evenings and not make a big deal out of this.

But on Friday, Daniels began using slightly different self-descriptors. “She” doesn’t always fit, Daniels acknowledged. “They” works, although it’s plural and feels awkward in common speech. Daniels described himself as “gender fluid” meaning he feels both male and female, at different times, in different proportions.

“I mean, I have 5 o’clock shadow right now,” Daniels said, while wearing a pinkish scarf, a long skirt, and velvet, over-the-knee boots. It wasn’t the first outfit of the day; Daniels had made several wardrobe changes, dressing up and then succumbing to the weight of people’s glances.

“I changed clothes four times today,” Daniels said. “That’s how it feels.”

Yeah, velvet over-the-knee boots, a bald head, and a 5 o'clock shadow. Nothing fetishy or weird here, kids and parents should just learn to be more accepting of this man's exhibitionism!

Well this does prove one thing, Stranger danger is over hyped. It's really the people who you know who tend to molest kids more.

At the rate these pedo's are coming out of the wood work soon I feel you'll be on an FBI watch list for having a date with someone old enough to drive a car.

"but the pronouns “she,” “he,” and “they” are all acceptable to use."

How about "it"? Can we call it an "it"? Because that seems most appropriate to me, since that is the accepted English language pronoun for a non-gendered entity.

Steamed Hams but Skinner troons out to avoid being called a liar

I wonder how good of a school Stanley Elementary is, too.
