ETA: For some reason I was thinking there would be 8 chapters.
I mean there are intro animations from chapter 0 all the way up to chapter 10, so who knows.
EDIT: I mean the bit where it says DELTARUUUNE and then the chapter number shows up under it. Usually when you replay a chapter, I think? I forget. They might be placeholders, but why would you need a chapter 10?

No, I just miscounted. The 10 chapters are just there as placeholders, and I can’t imagine there being more than 7 unless Toby pulls a “you finished chapter 7, but surprise! now there’s the true final 8th chapter in the new slot that wasn’t there before”.

Didn't Toby say there was only gonna be 7 chapters or something?
If there is a chapter 8, it'll probably come years later as a special anniversary chapter if I were to guess

I don’t think he ever explicitly said it, it just seems obvious given that there are 7 slots. As far as I know, he’s only specifically mentioned up to 6.

I really hope Chapter 5 starts actually resolving some of the mysteries and open plot points. I think one of the biggest dangers is mystery-baiting akin to that Steven Moffat Sherlock show, where it keeps hinting at totally awesome shit that's gonna happen at some point in the future -- and then it just ends without ever addressing most of it.

The closer the game gets to Chapter 7 without properly resolving these plotlines, the more likely it is to become a colossal fuckup. I hope Toby is smarter than that, given that Undertale wrapped things up well for the most part, but you never know.

i think we're at the point where the rollercoaster has gotten to its tip. snowgrave especially, that moment in chapter 4 tells me that whatever is going to happen, is approaching fast. at the very most, the end of chapter 5 will be where shit starts getting real, but i'm thinking about this keeping in mind that chapters 3-5 were originally going to be packaged together. We know who the main villain is, the heroes know what they need to collect, they even know where one of the things is. One problem is that the episodic format means that everyone is ahead of the story thanks to relentless analysis of every detail put into the scenery, being discussed to death to the point where people think that the reasonable theories they have are actually misdirection and are instead going up their own ass to convince themselves that Carol is the knight and was able to transport herself to the church without being detected by Kris and Susie via the sewer system. Can we go back to Asgore running over Dess in his Ford F-150?

Building on the "discussed to death" thing, it's amazing that Snowgrave was discovered due to some redditor's friend accidentally stumbling into it instead of the usual case where some guys datamined the assets and followed the line back to the trigger.

It’ll get there. We’re supposedly only at the halfway point, and Chapter 5 is the festival that’s been hyped up since the start, and the weird route in particular is hinting that crazy shit is gonna happen soon. Get your pacifist+weird route+”aborted weird route where you keep the Thorn Ring” saves ready and trvst the dog.

I hope that DELTARUNE continues to fuck with my head but this really does seem to be the inflection point where either Toby starts throwing knockout punches or it turns into Steven Universe.
UNDERALE's sappy weepy resolution isn't going to cut it twice.

And then someone found out that the enemy kill effect had been in the game since the first release.

i accidentally fucked up my entire save file timeline, making it into a inconsistent mess of weird+normal route save slots. because toby decided to remove the ability to change in what save slot you are playing after completing a chapter. like wtf why can you copy a save file to another slot, but you can't start the next chapter from another slot? now i have to get rid of a save file in order to make an aborted snowgrave

Your save files are located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE

You can convert your save file into a completion file by renaming the file and changing the number to whatever completion save number you want, then in-game choose "use previous chapter save file" and pick the save file for the slot you want

You can also swap the slots this way by changing the corresponding number (but make sure to get one save file out of the folder to not have name file conflict you're swapping with an existing slot)

Bonus fact: you can also have infinite save files by renaming the DELTARUNE folder to something like DELTARUNE1, the game will create a new save folder and you can swap between them later on, similar to how you can do so on Playstation by switching accounts

(Or you can just save an individual save file for later use)

Psss, try this!

I doubt that the only way to get the crooked sword will be to abort a Snowgrave route, as that one sounds overtly complicated compared to having another chance to acquire that sword. Either way, I forgot which save location had my pacifist play-through and which one the evil route, so I'll have to double-check once the next chapter is out.
