Undertale

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This is the case in Undertale because human souls have DETERMINATION. In deltarune though, determination seems to work differently altogether, as monsters seem to possess it as well (which allows them to open dark fountains)
The rules changed in DR: Monsters lack magic and have determination, so they can more easily co-exist with humans, and I suppose a human won't accidentally kill a monster because he angrily slapped it too strongly. Still, Sussie's Dark Fountain is smaller than Kris'.

>"You are the reeeeal monster."

Genocide route in UT is 100% justified, change my mind.
The morale of the first game is a mess as the justification keeps flip-flopping depending on how you play it.

The game started with the best situation for both members of a species that had the potential to accidentally annihilate the other, with humanity already repudiating the ideal of "kill or be killed" by sparing all the monsters behind the barrier. Adulthood is realizing the Neutral ending makes more sense.
Also this: If a monster automatically absorbs a human soul by just being nearby and the resulting combination loses control, this paints the monsters in a bad light. Even better, the situation can escalate if that hybrid accidentally or intentionally kills more humans and its strength quickly escalates. I suppose though that not all souls are equal, only those that stand out in a way or another.
The best solution would be for a human to gather 7 Boss Monster tier souls somehow, then use them to become a god and make the world a better place... But that's every JRPG villain.

I think the debate should be pretty definitively settled by the fact that the monsters aren't actually trying to kill you.
Except when they do.

Why did Humans and Monsters get into a giant race war in the backstory of UT but not Deltarune?
Because Monsters cannot into magic anymore and some may or may not be human-monster hybrids.

Genocide is literally the most boring game mode until sans lmao
You didn't read what I said, I like it because of the difficulty and to me at least, it's a lot faster than pacifist and I don't have to read a lot of corny bad jokes. The grinding is the only thing that makes it not as fun but other than that, I'd have it anytime than any other route.

The whole "they/them is because Toby Jew intended for Kris to be a self-insert" is a cope. Tranny Fox knew exactly what conclusion his fanbase would reach when they see it (Enby teenager).

They/them is also a bit of deep lore because Kris is literally two entities in a single body.
People in the game who dont know about it still do they/them bullshit.

You guys realize Undertale is about narrative tropes in video games and not race politics right?
Even if you are pro genocide or whatever, then you're free to do that and leave it as your ending. Obviously if you go out of your way to be a pacifist and spare monsters (who obviously don't really want to fight you anyway, it evidently doesn't take much effort to convince most of them to be your friend or leave you alone) yeah, big shock you get a pro monster ending.

I don't really think so. The game is known as a pacifist game but even during that route it goes out of its way to show you that you have to defend yourself against truly bad people and that sometimes, even killing can be justified.

You can kill both Asgore and Flowey and still get true pacifist by the way. Both of these two put you in unwinnable scenarios where you have to fight to survive.

It was pretty obvious Toby's original intention with Frisk was just ambiguity, not a political statement. Funny that as soon as he hires troons and commies though they canonize Kris being a troon, despite it being an obvious he.

It'd be so fucking funny for there to be a fakeout reveal when papyrus finally shows up for his "battle body" armor to be based on the knight's appearance. Mirror the spooky sans sillouette intro with the knight but then it abrubtly cuts to THAT MUSIC once the fight starts.
HUMAN! HOW DO YOU LIKE MY NEW ROYAL GUARD OUTFIT?

Watching a DR vid on youtube and like a glutton for punishment I decide to scroll down to the comment section.
Of course you have gender weirdos being fags about "muh they/them, muh toby corrected them".
When suddenly, a refutation...
>"This is not what happened on the live stream, watch the fan gamers live stream of Deltarune chapter 1 with Toby Fox. Toby did not correct them, he used they/them pronouns for Kris throughout the stream, while presenters used He/him, for some reason some people took out of context the moment where Toby and presenters joke about Kris and made it look like Toby was correcting them. What happened is fan gamers uses he/him for Kris, after which Toby also jokes but uses they/them, he didn't try to fix them in this whole stream."
So apparently the whole "they/them toby correction" cope is a fucking lie.

i liked him in undertale but in deltarune i want to punch him in his fucking face.
I kinda hope this is intentional, because it would give me the same schadenfreude that I get from the reaction to Toriel being an alcoholic. Plus it fits with the general throughline of Deltarune and Undertale being different in ways meant to specifically fuck with fan shit, so having the addition of "the (at least second) favorite pairing is a relationship that brings out the worst of both" would slot in pretty well, too.

Finished CH 4 today and I really want more. I hope these tranny communists don't take 6 fucking years to pump out the next chapter.
Given that 5 was supposed to launch alongside 3 and 4 and they teased a specific release year in-game, I think they’re confident about it being 2026.

As for 6 and 7, they’ve always worked on later chapters alongside whatever’s in the upcoming release (albeit at a slower pace), and Toby said that most of the team was working on 5 full-time months before 3+4 were released. I think 6 will be about halfway done by the time 5 is out. 3 being paired with 4 made sense since 3 is more filler-y, but I could see 6 and 7 being separate in late 2027 and early 2029 respectively.

I swear I heard somewhere that after the first paid release this year, there would be only one more big drop of content after that and it would be the rest of the story. I feel like it was in one of the anniversary streams or something. I don't ever recall there being an episodic release planned other than out of necessity of getting the damn thing out in a timely fashion. I think Toby really put himself in a tough position by announcing Deltarune so early. He could have put on an air of resting on his laurels and given himself much more breathing room.

The menu only shows 7 chapters, and despite the fact that people claim there being more in the files, I won't believe it until I see it. I could totally see the next content being the last three chapters. At the end, they even said Chapter 4 was a "halfway point" being passed. So it stands to reason there's only going to be 7-8 chapters. (imo probably 7 chapters + an epilogue.)
It's also worth noting that this release is chapters 1-4 so the next release being 5-8 tracks. I don't think Toby wants to drag a project out for over a decade. He seems very self conscious about the time it's taken to make Deltarune.

He even stated that his family and friends saw the Jackenstein fight as a "cry for help". (this is speculated, but "YOUR TAKING TOO LONG" makes the most sense)

Oh god I'm glad others are sick to death of this "Kris = LE HECKIN ENBIE UWU" bullshit. It's all because Kris is a parallel to Frisk/Chara, and they were supposed to be someone who any player can project onto, hence the ambiguous gender and ethnicity, that's all.

But knowing Toby, as much as I love these games to death, he's just like the fandom, unbearably faggy, so I can see the whole "Kris = enbie" thing becoming a plot point and that's horrifying

The release plan has gone through a lot of iterations:
>1, then the rest of the game
>1, then 2, then the rest
>1, then 2, then 3-5, then the rest
>1, then 2, then 3-4, then [unspecified]

So who knows. I do think the “halfway point” comment just means chapters generally get longer as you progress so 5-7 will be as long as 1-4, which makes sense for an RPG.

I'm out of the Deltarune loop since chapter one and I come in here and I read that there's a rape scene. What the FUCK is going on?!
It's not really that, it's just Kris putting a ring on Noelle's finger, but because of the context (a dark route where you pretty much corrupt her) it represents her full corruption and loss of innocence, and it was represented by a rose losing its petals (and people got assmad about it because "eee defloration, it's rape apologism!" so Toby had to change the scene)

The weird route DOES have that "abusive relationship/controlling relationship" subtext but you have to actively look for it so idk why some would whine

You know, one thing I've noticed is the lack of AU's being made for deltarune.
Probably for the better, all things considered.
The idea of cringy AUs for Deltarune makes me shudder. I guess it's because the Deltarune fandom is just the grown up Undertale fandom, I haven't seen as many teenagers, meanwhile the Undertale fandom was like 90% children and teenagers

Stinky boy energy character. (Drawn by me)
This person calls people niggerfaggot on the kiwi farms, little known fact.

My nostalgia for shitty sans AU's outweighs any and all rational thought
