All these rrats about Cover management playing some sort of 4D chess about collab restrictions isn't taking into account that it can really all be boiled down to the notoriety of Japanese middle-management inefficiency. You're supposed to ask for permission for everything and even if you do, it has to snake its way through all their "proper" channels and you'd be lucky to hear back a "Yes" in a month.

I think this varies depending on the game dev/publisher. Not all permissions are the same and the added caveat of permissions for region-specific versions is a fucking mess to begin with. I believe Gura mentioned this in an older stream when a lot of people were telling her that JP got permissions from a certain dev/publisher and she responded that it doesn't necessarily translate to them on the EN side.

I think you're right about this. Japanese middle management is notorious about being slow and formal, and it's much less embarassing for them to say "this was delayed because we wanted to ask for permission", rather than "we did not ask for permission and now we have someone who is upset with us". Its not like any of the girls have to play any given game by a certain date, so I don't think they see waiting for permission as a significant negative. I don't doubt that Gura could legally play the game once JP permissions were given but Cover isn't going by the absolute legal standard, they want to keep the game companies happy.

Their official accounts are pretty much controlled by the company, so no real risk unless they dox themselves on purpose. Overall this scenario is pretty implausible because it requires a lunatic intersectional who is:

• Going to shut up about it long enough to get through auditions (lol)
• Not going to get caught in the background check like the terminally-online idiots they are (lol)
• Willing to ditch their ego and work for a company instead of being a "struggling indie"
• Influential anywhere near the order of fucking China itself, despite presumably being fired shortly after debut
• Actually funny or entertaining enough to get hired (LOL)

A group of people melting down and gathering en mass to attack Cover, sounds vaguely familiar.

But realistically, no one worth a shit is going to care because again it's a literal contract that they signed. So even if they did, they'd make themselves liable and I doubt they'd be that stupid. Cover might not really care about a lot of the guidelines, usually, until something bites them in the ass because of it, but I have a feeling the "No Politics" rule is fairly strict outside of an occasional joke.

However, that is why screening is a thing, and why Hololive in particular screens hard. All EN Gen1 members needed to have a prior internet presence, and seeing as Subaru said EN's policy will be to hire "talents" rather than "idols" it seems rather certain that trend will continue. And woketards with an online presence will not shut up about their politics, so it is relatively easy to filter them out.
