It's interesting if you like the structure and imagery but otherwise I'd consider it a background noise type of story.

R/nosleep is the septic tank of online horror fiction. Maybe one in one hundred stories you find on there could be considered worth reading and even then its a coin flip on whether its good or not.

This story was a bottom of the barrel fujoshoid schlick-fic and I'm annoyed I wasted hours of my life listening to it.

This story sucked, but it sucked in so many ways it was amazing.
Like, what do you mean that this random dude got Attitude Adjusted into the river and falls into the Phantom Zone, that somehow goes to him being selected for the gay Bene Gessarit, and then he shoots a robot G-Man, and then we smash cut to his homosexual married lifestyle? Every question we could have had, no answer. Every plot point, no resolution that made sense. Every choice they made, totally retarded.
Maybe if you didn’t spend two weeks canoodling with your Grindr date and instead spent them planning your brave escape it would have worked out better. Maybe if you just heard out the robot you would have figured out what all these rules were about. Maybe if you did some fucking pushups rather than jerking off to trap hentai you could have stuffed the fireman’s carry and not even have gotten into this mess.
What a story, can’t wait to see what Reddit thinks about this or if they’re still on the ponies.

Yeah, some more /x/ stories would be good. I think the goat man story they did for the live show is the only one they've covered. This one seems like it's right up Meat's alley lol. A 4chan grab bag would work really well, /x/ is (mostly) just nosleep without the retarded rules so fun stories are actually allowed to exist

I enjoy their reading of awful stories significantly more than their readings of mediocre stories like last weeks 'Dead Girl'. Give me more Cupcakes please

Not sure on the normies part but that sounds about right. It's basically anarchotyranny in imageboard form. If you're talking about something the mods don't like (or even just in ways they don't like) they'll ban you for the slightest infraction while allowing people fucking with you to spam your threads with BBC porn and off topic nonsense, and the people doing that know they can get away with it so they don't hold back at all, making the site completely unusable unless you have mod-approved opinions

Different boards are different levels of shitty though, so if you stick to the comfier boards it can be ok. /x/ is nice because no one is larping as an amateur novelist like nosleep. It's just people with ideas for stories that show up, sloppily shit it out, and then bounce. Just makes it feel more real, the way people would actually use the internet, vs nosleep's rules basically forcing you to pretend to be asking for help, which works occasionally but basically never actually helps the story and generally makes it worse

The story isn't even horror, it's just a reddit faggot writing gay romance.

They rip the story apart, it's fucking great. I hope the guy who wrote it was in his 30s because of their insistance this had to have been some middle schooler's writing project.
 
The worst part is the pacing, the plot basically blitzes through itself, so we go from this setup of this city having weird rules everyone has to follow and keep secret that's an outlier among cities, and also it assigns you your soulmate, then almost immediately the protagonist turns 18 and gets tossed into a lake and vacuumed into the fucking hell dimension or something to instantly fall in love with the state mandated boyfriend who comes to save him and let him cry into his arms whenever he's having a bad dream, then they're escaping from the SCP foundation but gay (Well, slightly gayer than it is today), I can't tell if it's supposed to be a YA dystopia, a backrooms-esque realm where breaking the rules gets you pulled through your fucking TV, or an ao3 yaoi soulmates au on r/nosleep, there's no time to chew on any of the concepts it throws out.
The boys being so tired they pretty much crash out right out the gate probably saved this video.
