If the hair was a little shorter it'd be perfect. If anything, they should've taken the opportunity to make SSJ4 canon and market it as "beast".

Thats kind of the point of the evo. Dunsparce is based on the Tsuchinoko, a type of Japanese cryptid that is just a fat snake, nothing special going for it, no powers etc, just a weird, fat snake. Yet people hunt for it as though it is something magical, making them idiots. Hence its name (in most languages) reflecting that, by referencing 'dumb' or 'dunce'. For years people have wanted an evo for it that is majestic, or awe-inspiring to make up for it just being a fat drill snake with wings, so it plays into the 'dumb' hunters by just giving it extra segments.

If we're speaking Pokémon, I really fucking hate the Paradox line up. It's once again based on the first generations because those were the only generations with memorable designs, but with it everything is either over designed and/or just ugly.

To be fair they did do a decent share of gen 5 based designs but even then its still not great, the past ones could have been ideas for new pokemon and the future ones are extremely lazy "old mon but a robot".

I have to echo the others. Dunsparce looks fine.
I'm also horribly reminded of kiddie me who thought its mouth was under the horns on its chin. I was a retarded kid.

Then Rebellion ruined everything.
What in the fuck is she wearing? Is that a jockstrap? She looks like a Katamari Damacy cousin with tits after trying to become a priestess or some shit.
A less egregious example of downgrading a character design would be what Rebellion did to Risty.
She looked fine as she was but then...
They got rid of all that made her design unique and cool and just made it really boring.
They ended up rebooting the whole series so everyone got redesigns, which are fine for most of them. They also added a new girl with a less-than-fine design. Her name is Bloom and clearly, her whole gimmick is flowers. That's fine and all but good lord, poor bitch is overdesigned.
There's shit on her everywhere and it's so busy on the eyes.

Aha, yeah that does make sense. As an evolution, it is pretty lazy.
In that same vein, I find Muk pretty lazy too design-wise. I know it's an unpopular opinion to shit on anything from Gen 1 so I'll take whatever gets flung at me.

Regarding Muk.. yeah. Muk is pretty lazy. As much as I love Gen1 of Pokémon, there really were some lazy ass designs. I mean, Pidgey alone is just a basic ass bird design that you'd see anywhere.
