Main reason why I came back to this thread after seeing Karl's video pop up on Youtube. The whole time I was watching, I kept thinking "didn't somebody die over this? Isn't there some dead Youtber involved in all of this?" but then I thought I mis-remembered and was just thinking of Karl. Because before Karl, Apollo Legend was the main guy covering Billy Mitchell's antics.

RIP to a real one :drink:
This miserable cheating faggot may have contributed to the death of someone telling the truth about him because he's that obsessed with his fake fucking Donkey Kong record from almost 30 years ago. Quite a legacy to leave.
Billy is a dickhead but he wasn't the cause, maybe a contributing factor in the grand scheme of things but not the primary force.

In his deleted "suicide note" video Apollo Legend said he has life long health issues that cannot be cured and will only get worse with time. He said his quality of life was going downhill and wanted to end it before he's hospital bound.

The apparent straw that broke the camels back was the controversies Apollo found himself in. He landed himself in hot water for supporting a speed runner who was cancelled over racist remarks and youtubers DarkViperAU and EZScape crticized him over some shit, can't remember what it was about, but these criticisms pushed him to do it as Apolllo thanked both DarkViper and EZScape for pushing him over the edge.

TL;DR: terminal medical problems and criticism from youtubers did him in. Billy's lolsuits probably didn't help either

There's obvious reasons why you should not be able to use an 8 way stick when the original is 4 way, but the unmodified cabinet rule seems really strict considering the sticks on an old cab are going to be absolutely worn down. Replacing the stick is an inevitability.

billy mitchell is still a lying piece of shit that *supposedly* got the high score in dankey kang with a banned type of stick, but are the rules really that strict?

Fair, especially given the inevitable obsolescence of individual parts, if not the whole machine altogether, but wouldn't it be possible to limit the joystick's movement to closely match the original?

I don't know what the actual rules are, but it would make sense to allow you to restore it to its original function, but not do the equivalent of hooking a GameShark to it to upgrade its performance.

I feel like people's attention for this kind of controversy will shift after to someone else after Mitchell is done, but not on Todd Rogers, he's not a particularly interesting candidate, at least not in comparison to Tommy Tallarico, which deserve particylar attention for the amount of bullshit he spewed in the oast years.

I don’t want to be “that guy”, but is this for sure a slam dunk against this complete faggot? I watched the video and it seems like an obvious win, but is there any way he could weasel his way out of this?

Pretty sure there's spare parts or rebuild kits available for those joysticks. Those Nintendo cabinets aren't exactly rare, and most arcade hardware isn't hard to work on. I've restored a few including monitors.

I feel like that's how it should be, but it would not surprise me if these spergs are like "if it's not original it's not official"

litigious people should be set on fire
Kinda wishing Billy and his "witnesses" get hit with perjury charges, but those are so rare.

Right now my hope is that his lawsuit gets destroyed, thrown out like a dirty rag, and his reputation forever stained.

I hope he gets at least sanctioned because he lied and he knew he was lying. He knew he cheated and that the people he was suing were telling the truth and tried to perpetrate a fraud on the court and the public because he didn't think it could be proven.

Not this faggot. Usually speedrun cheaters get exposed quickly, have a weak defense, and that's that. He just sues anybody who says he cheats. It's so insufferable.

Seems like it'd be somewhat like stratification in motorsport:
- "Original" class would be unchanged hardware and would run into serviceability problems.
- "Unmodified A" for anything that still has OEM production for components. You can replace broken shit with new parts from OEMs, but it will always perform the same as it did day one.
- "Unmodified B" for anything using only OEM-spec components. They might be made by somebody else for whatever reason, but are true to original in performance.
- "Modified" for anything that deviates from OEM-spec.
Not only would there be four times the divisions to practice their special type of autism, breaking down the components and assembling/archiving their spec sheets could be a whole other autistic niche! Just look at what they already do with mechanical keyboards. Everybody freaks out about the newest, smallest chips or whatever but nobody thinks about the thousands of little bugmen in Shenzen that can reball shit like second nature. If anything that lower-barrier-to-entry shit is stuff people working obsolete jobs should be working.
