X vows to 'robustly challenge' Australia order to remove stabbing posts

SYDNEY, April 20 (Reuters) - Social media platform X said on Saturday it would challenge in court an order from an Australian regulator demanding the company remove some posts related to the stabbing of a bishop in Sydney.

Police charged a boy, 16, with a terrorism offence on Thursday for the alleged stabbing of Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel at a church in the New South Wales capital on Monday. Footage from the scene showed the boy restrained by the congregation and shouting accusations that Emmanuel had insulted Islam.

X's Global Government Affairs posted on Saturday that the Australian eSafety Commissioner had ordered it "to remove certain posts in Australia that publicly commented on the recent attack against a Christian Bishop".

The regulator demanded that X "withhold" the posts or face a daily fine of A$785,000 ($500,000), the company said, without giving details of the posts at issue.

It said, "X believes that eSafety’s order was not within the scope of Australian law and we complied with the directive pending a legal challenge.

"The eSafety Commissioner does not have the authority to dictate what content X’s users can see globally," X said. "We will robustly challenge this unlawful and dangerous approach in court."

Asked about X's comments, an agency spokesperson cited an eSafety Commissioner statement that it was working to ensure X's compliance with Australian law.

"We are considering whether further regulatory action is warranted," the regulator said.

The regulator, a government body that works to remove harmful online content, sent legal letters in March to social media platforms including X, demanding information about their efforts to stamp out terrorism content.

The bearded Emmanuel, bishop at the Assyrian Christ The Good Shepherd Church, is a social media star with followers around the world but also a divisive preacher. He has made fiery criticisms of homosexuality, COVID vaccinations, Islam and U.S. President Joe Biden's election.

Fun fact, that guy getting shot absolutely deserved it and the photographer regretted taking the picture. Jimmy Carter personally pardoned Nguyễn Ngọc Loan for executing this death squad Viet Cong who murdered not just South Vietnamese military, but their entire families as well.
Yeah, I'm not defending the VC. I'm just saying that shit like this exists, and has been in circulation for a long time. Pre-Internet, even. That footage (it wasn't just a still, there was also a motion camera there that recorded it and the footage is easy to find) is objectively violent, regardless of you POV on it. How stupid does Australia want to get with this?

Plus, Null seems to like it when I point out old stuff like this. Like the time I pointed out Mother Jones has been doing shit "investigative reporting" dating back to the Ford Pinto controversy. Of course their article on us was utter trash.

Null and Lee Iacocca share something in common.

Also Elon should just block australian IPS and redirect them to a page making fun of their government...
It would be funny, but a regional IP block is not gonna satiate Australia. They want a global ban because they are just smart enough to know VPNs are a thing.

They ought not get it. Eat shit Australia.

weird little tidbit about the VC shooting shot, iirc from the Clerks Animated commentary they got the AP or whoever owns the image breathing down their neck for not making it parody enough for the image of Randal as a hall monitor in highschool that was basically that picture but Randal

Love the dishonest coverage. You can see it so clearly how the j*urno distorts the truth.
What did Reuters mean by this?
a judge who told X to block some accounts as part of an investigation into digital militias".
"Digital Militias" such as:
Nikolas Ferreira, a 26-year-old YouTuber who received the most votes of 513 federal lawmaker candidates in the last election. Days after the assault, Ferreira falsely blamed the incoming administration for the violence.
and:
"[...]several Twitter accounts [who posted content] related to criticism/alleged offenses against Fernando Capez, a Brazilian professor and politician, former congressman and currently special secretary in the São Paulo Consumer Protection Agency” who was “a defendant in criminal proceedings
Also, the notorious far right militiaman, Michael Shellenberger:
de Moraes has weaponized the Federal Police, including against me, for publishing the Twitter Files in Brazil. The Federal Police delivered two reports to de Moraes, one on April 18 and the other on April 19. The reports consist of a gigantic conspiracy theory, suggesting connections and relationships that simply do not exist.

The reports single me out and suggest it is somehow suspicious that I only have paid for one subscription on X, which is to Elon Musk. But there is nothing suspicious about this. I am paying Musk, not the other way around. And, as the Police report notes, Musk takes a percentage of the revenue of the people who subscribe to my content on X.

Jacqui Lambie should be ventilated and left to bleed in a ditch. So fucking tired of tyrants facing no consequences for their tyranny.
Watching her speak reminded by of one of the most based things to ever be uttered in a courtroom:

"When some fuckwit in a suit starts questioning your integrity and using his fucktard snake logic he learnt getting his tonsils bruised by some lecturer's spotty dick at their non-binary law school, remember one thing...that this cunt will be one of the first to be held down and drowned in a muddy puddle for his fancy jacket when this society crumbles."

Just replace him with her.

Obviously this whole thing is fucking stupid, but what I wanna know is whether they're gonna try employing this faggotry retroactively. Because I think that's unworkable, to put it mildly.

10 seconds on the Internet and you can find genuine journalistic news footage of the South Vietnamese Police Chief executing a captured Viet Cong back in 1968. It's pretty graphic, if you have never seen it before.

Is that "Class 1 Prohibited Material"? Should the Associated Press start purging their archives now?

How far down the stupid hole are they gonna try and drag the rest of the world?

Fuck Australia.

That pic is another great example of the media fucking lying and distorting the truth. That man had just been caught with a group thar murdered a South Vietnamese officer and his family while wearing no uniform and 100% deserved his summary execution. Even the photog says he wish he never took the photo becaise of how the media lied about it. The hippies continued to harass the shooter for decades after he moved to America and almost got him deported before Jimmy fucking Carter had to step in and tell them to fuck off.

Yeah I pointed this out too. No less of a pinko than Jimmy Carter knew the harassment of this guy was bullshit. I wouldn't say any man in that guy's position would have done the same thing, but any REAL man in that situation would have done the same thing.

Been watching some of the news on this.

I am really starting to better appreciate Null's hatred of the British Commonwealth.

You got the Australian PM calling Musk a "Billionaire bully who thinks he's above the law."

How is he a bully? Aussie political fags are trying to strong-arm him. What law? Australian law? I wipe my ass with Australian law!

We have more thermonuclear weapons than you. Eat shit Kangaroo fuckers. Go suck King Charles's cock, you SUBJECTS.

(No offense to Farmers who read this that happen to be Australian. I am sure some of you are okay, but god damn your government is obnoxious here).

What did Reuters mean by this?

They are regurgitating the party line from the Brazilian commie-WEF government here. The whole "Digital Militia" is a attempt to gaslight people into thinking that opposition are all criminals. Our drug dealers have evolved over the last 12 years and have instead turned now into "Militias" which are far more like the Mexican Cartels than the old drug traffickers. They pushed a massive smear about Bolsonaro being part and aligned with them, because he was pro-gun and pro-capital punushment and they blamed him for the killing of some bleeding heart liberal skag politician in 2018 on a hit job. It turned out he wasn't, the dude who did it was buddy buddy with the current party in power and a supporters of Lula.

The entire thing is one massive power seizure by the kleptocratic Brazilian state. There are some other threads here on the farms where random Brazilian kiwis and people who did 30 seconds of research with google translate explain it better and more clearly than Reuters.

I hope Elon turns off Twitter for all of Australia
I hope other social media companies follow. Meta is already in conflict with our goverment.

Aus fag here.
Fuck the commision.
What really pisses me off is that there were two stabbing in Sydney within 24 hours.
First one was a Incel loser who killed 6 women in a mall because he couldn't get laid.
Second was the rag head teen who stabbed a old man because his religion told him to.
Guess which one is getting all the media attention?
Both are horrible but one isn't political correct to dunk on so there has been little to no media coverage.

Between Australia, Canada and the UK, who's become the biggest cuck/Big Brother?

I honestly don't know.
Australia or the UK, at least in some parts of Canada there is a mounting resistance (it might not seem much but it is happening and it will only get stronger) against the decisions made in Ottawa, in this instance i would say Australia is worse than even Canada

Do any of you remember the tradie protests in Victoria during COVID? The ones where they wanted to go back to work because they had families to feed and pokies to fill with cash? It was livestreamed, I'm sure plenty of you watched it like I did.
Most of the streams were on facebook, and you could watch the comments made during the stream to see the real face of my country.
Absolute fucking cretins.
"Oh they're such softies, harden up.", as if sitting around under the thumb of daddy government was a sign of toughness.
"lol they need to get a job instead of wasting time protesting" as if they weren't protesting because the government was stopping them from working.
"Its just a jab? Why are they so scared?" As if the lockdowns by that point in time weren't just pointless government over-reach and the jab had proven to be worthless as tits on a man.
"How unAustralian and disrespectful!" they screamed as the tradies marched on the ANZAC monument to escape the encircling police. As if the bloodshed threatening to occur on the monument was on their shoulders and not the jackboots looking to enforce the decrees of a dictator.

Repeated ad infinitum. The same thoughts regurgitated over and over again. No sympathy, no understanding, just dull eyed mockery.

It was at that moment I learned to hate my own nation.

I don't know how many Australians out there think the same way as I do, We keep our heads down and we break the
laws quietly. We did it during COVID with those dumb fuck jab passports by photoshopping our own fakes (we had a thread here about it actually), we did it during the gungrab after Port Arthur (you have no idea how many 'lost' firearms are sitting around in sheds just out of sight) and we continue to do it with VPN's and other tools so we can continue to dodge IP blocks and pirate to our hearts content (because fuck paying over $100 for a video game. what madness is that?).
But our numbers are too small and the system too rigged for us to force any political change, no matter how many of us vote for just the right third party with just the right plans to fix everything, we'll be stuck with the same sort of scumfuck as Albo, because the big 2 reign supreme no matter what.
We swim against the stream with our heads down and we know we won't have any friends if we're caught, because for some insane reason they all keep trying to lick the boot even as it comes down onto their face.

Its ANZAC day today, did you know that? I wonder what those boys buried under the poppies in Flanders would think about us now.
I hope they'd spit on Canberra.
I fear they'd agree with it.

There's been a fair bit of coverage since the raids started yesterday.

He only geo-blocked the content pending legal action. The eSafety Commissioner is having a fit because she wanted the content removed globally so that Australians can't access it by using a VPN.
Which is why this needs to be fought. Vigorously. He needs to do what Null did and tell them to eat shit, even if that results in X being blocked from access by all Australians.

Requesting a geo-block, to some extent, is reasonable, I guess. But a single nation having the unilateral ability to to censor something off the global Internet is dangerous as fuck.

I do not, and can not, believe that Australia, or any other nation, has the requisite legal authority to do such a thing. If they do, the Internet is fucked.

Yeah and people seem to forget/deliberately ignore why it happened/what preceded it. The construction union caved into the governments demands that they make the vaccine a requirement for all workers to get onto site. In response there was an impromptu protest outside the CFMEU head office, following which the government immediately announced an industry wide shut down for the next two weeks, iirc. It was clearly a vindictive move in retaliation for the protest and had nothing whatsoever to do with "health and safety".

These guys pay the CFMEU something like $600 a quarter and they refused to stand up to the slightest government overreach or simply their right to keep their vaccination status private. As someone who works in an adjascent industry I can't even get onto their sites for a few days a year just to take a few measurements without my boss having to pay union fees on my behalf just to pacify their thugs. If I were paying out of pocket - the least I'd expect from a union is a spine. And politicians on both sides of the isle came out and called the protestors "cry baby nazi's" lol.
