Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

I expected them to do a Gears collection, but I guess they don't want to do a GTA: DE and just remake the original trilogy at once. That would've made more sense than just remaking/remastering ONE game. As of now, 2 and 3 are still only on Xbox.

Remember State of Decay 3, the game that was teased a bit before the current gen console launch?

More like State of Delay 3

GTA Online made $985 million in one year solely through microtransactions. So Rockstar only need to do GTA6 online with their shark cards, and then a PC port isnt needed anytime soon.
depends on how well they can shill GTA6O and how much they can deprecate GTA5O, they have nothing to fear from read dead online anyway but it's extra income at the end of the day, the main meat part of the pie is GTA.

That's not even the worst issue. Physical media used to have stuff like disc checks or CD-keys or an online registration for DRM. All of these things could be cracked or bypassed after a while. And then you could run the software right off of your computer without needing a disc check or online connection forever. This becomes a huge problem when the game is running code on some server that you cannot access. Or the installers for patches only work from a remote server that players never get direct access to actually run.

Software that required an online connection has been cracked time and time again. But now you shift to services like Game Pass and always online games where essential code to run the software is always server side. Those games are going to be significantly more difficult to preserve or pirate if not impossible. You have these "physical" releases where the games are not even on the actual disc. It's a disc containing part of the game that requires immediately downloading and patching of the actual bulk of the game. To call those a physical release of the game should be consumer fraud.

That's terrible to think about.
I bought the DooM collectors edition on switch.
It ended up being a code in a box.
It was my fault for not reading the fine print in the end but here I am thinking I was getting a game card with my desk display & steel book but nope.
Lesson learned.
I quit buying PC games for the most part when they went all in on digital.
I guess I'll be done with gaming in general when the consoles finally follow suit.

How the fuck are you gonna apply tariffs (usually for physical goods) on a digital product? Are you fucking retarded?
i mean he's gonna try putting tariffs on film productions that filmed in other countries and international films coming to the states, so it seems like something he'd try, but i was talking about le tariffs on quite frankly everything and making a bunch of shit expensive because the nintendo and sony arent made in america and will have their prices jacked up as a result

Xbox games head honcho Phil Spencer swung by Bloomberg HQ yesterday, and said "There are no red lines for which Xbox games will come to PlayStation"

After releasing the first batch of Xbox games for Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation, Spencer is pleased with the results. Microsoft will do more of that, he said, and won’t rule out any game in Microsoft’s stable.

“I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,’ ” he said. It’s too early to make any sort of decision on the next version of Halo, he said.

It's that time of the year where the largest video game company from the western world will probably show us amazing games like Clockwork Revolution, Fable reboot, Blade and that Rare game that nobody remembers anymore.
Edit:Holy shit, I only got Clockwork Revolution right, not even on their 40th anniversary Rare showed something new.
