Google has announced that it’s making a major change to YouTube’s monetization policy that could impact thousands of channels on the platform.

In an update posted on the official support website, YouTube says that it will be updating the monetization policy regarding “original” and “authentic” content. As of July 15, YouTube’s policy will target content that it feels goes against those guidelines.

“In order to monetize as part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), YouTube has always required creators to upload “original” and “authentic” content,” the statement reads. “On July 15, 2025, YouTube is updating our guidelines to better identify mass-produced and repetitious content. This update better reflects what “inauthentic” content looks like today.”

With this new policy, channels that have become known for quickly posting AI-generated videos, copy-paste videos, and, in some cases, reaction content, could find themselves demonetized. That said, it’s currently unknown what YouTube truly deems as “mass-produced” or “repetitious” content.

Insider Gaming has reached out to YouTube for clarification, and will provide an update should a response be received.

This policy change comes not long after YouTube also made an update to its live streaming policy, limiting users under 16 from going live alone on the platform.

Maybe I'm just an optimist but reactors btfo? Show me your "oh no" faces now, thieves.

There's react channels and there's react channels. As the H3H3 litigation (that and the Kotick/Kotaku litigation make me very happy as whoever loses the rest of us win) details there's a world of difference between those that play someone else's content from start to finish while grazing, sleeping, defecating or whatever and those that those who substantively...... well react and add their own layer over the top. It's also not something that only popped into existence with the interweb. Remember Disneytime, It'll be Alright on the Night, Carry On compilations and any number of Clive James series? Most (but not all) comprised clips of other older content with a presenter introducing and providing commentary and they were far from the only ones.

Youtube has no interest in addressing copyright violations (including false claims) beyond avoiding liability itself. (It's nowhere near as much of a basket case as Twitch but what is?) This is just another mechanism for Youtube to fuck over those it disapproves of and/or can get away with fucking over and there will be nothing approaching objective criteria that outsiders can scrutinise.

For those getting moist at the prospect of Asmonbald's downfall, prepare for disappointment. Like him or loath him, his react content is about as safe from this as it gets and if Youtube does use this as an excuse to go after him..... well Kick will be delighted. While the usual suspects will rail about Kick being the ninth circle of Hell the stigma it had 6 or 12 months gone has largely gone.

Oh please let this happen, all those annoying 'football expert' channels like Vizeh, Pegg, HITC Sevens, Zealand, AwayGays vanishing would be well worth it.

A nice day to do it on as well (can't say why because 'thou shalt not power level').

I still hate YouTube for banning me for daring to offend the cock in the frock called Jeffree Marsh, therefore anything which will fuck up the dumbest creators and also lead to its death spiral is warmly welcomed by me.

A shame for genuinely talented creators, but there will be other outlets in time - Rumble is okay, Bitchute and Odysee could be better.

Tiktok is the closest YouTube has come to a challenger and they will skull fuck any channel that comes between them and fighting it.
If they want to fight Tiktok, they could start by not making a random short occasionally start playing at full volume on my phone as I open the Youtube app before worrying about AI slop. Thank God I primarily use Newpipe or I'd have gone full Nasim Aghdam by now.

As well as all the jeet-run AI-generated slop channels that infest YouTube Shorts. TikTok doesn’t have the same problem with them because India banned TikTok for being Chinese.
If India can ban tiktok can YouTube just ban Indians?

Better still, ban Indians from the internet full stop. Cut the fibre optics, shoot down their satellites, jam their communications, until they can fucking behave.

I think the reactors that actually pause videos and give their own takes are fine, it's the ones that just sit in the corner and mutter "uh huh, yea" and "wow" from time to time without even pausing that are in trouble
Most consolidated reactors are like this. The smart ones watch the media and either comment along or have the commentary later and it's interesting to see different takes of movies or shows you like as well. I think this will be safe it will have to adjust to create something.

B-b-but muh reddit text to speech stories and muh reddit text to speech stories with shitty mobile gamepaly on half the screen stolen by jeets.
These will be the ones that will get hurt. This is pure slop and yt just doesn't want to give them money.

@whatever I feel like you should ad this to the OP, its the actual wording from google:

I would be fine if all react channels were fucking nuked because of this. It's just ridiculous how if you search a specific video title you'll see that video but also see tons of videos like "INSERT VIDEO TITLE REACTION!!!!"

Then if you happen to click on them it'll be some fuckface sitting in the corner of the video going "wow", "that's crazy!", "ACK ACK ACK!" the entire time cause they're a retard and have no actual insights. So basically, I don't care if 1% of react streamers are worth it if 99% of them are banal content slop that should be purged from every platform.

With this new policy, channels that have become known for quickly posting AI-generated videos, copy-paste videos, and, in some cases, reaction content, could find themselves demonetized. That said, it’s currently unknown what YouTube truly deems as “mass-produced” or “repetitious” content.
Youtube's definitely going to fuck this up. They'll wipe out the channels that use AI voice acting to parody people while somehow not touching the pajeet street slop.

What we check when we review your channel

If you’re making money on YouTube, your content should be original and authentic. This means that we expect your content to:
  • Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.
  • Not be duplicative or repetitive. Your content should be made for the enjoyment or education of viewers, rather than for the sole purpose of getting views.
Our reviewers will check your channel and content against our policies. Since they can’t check every video, our reviewers may focus on your channel’s:
  • Main theme
  • Most viewed videos
  • Newest videos
  • Biggest proportion of watch time
  • Video metadata (including titles, thumbnails, and descriptions)
  • Channel’s “About” section
The above are just examples of content our reviewers may assess. Note that our reviewers can, and may check other parts of your channel to see whether it fully meets our policies.

There's a tab Follow our Program Policies, when you expand it, it says it doesn't allow repetitious content, for example
Google said:
  • Content that exclusively features readings of other materials you did not originally create, like text from websites or news feeds
  • Songs modified to change the pitch or speed, but are otherwise identical to the original song
  • Similar repetitive content, or mindless content with low educational value, commentary, or narratives
  • Mass-produced, or content using the same template across multiple videos
  • Image slideshows or scrolling text with minimal or no narrative, commentary, or educational value
People like Low Level and reddit post readers are about to get hit HARD

It also doesn't allow reused content, but it wouldn't hit people like Critikal, since he does provide commentary, even if it's unfunny capeshit references, but it will probably hit people like SSSniperwolf and other "reactor" slop
