Youtubers who are actually cool - because not everyone is a cow

World According to Briggs is comfy and occasionally pretty funny. Most of his content is ranking US towns and states by various stats. It doesn't really sound like the most engaging thing out there, but it's punctuated with Gen X quips and interesting anecdotes about places he's traveled or been stationed in the past. Good wind-down watching that doesn't angry up the blood after a long day.

He's a likeable guy. I'd buy him a beer. It's one of those channels I forget exists for a while and then just get stuck watching and kick myself for not keeping up on.

It's been a while--I'm pretty sure I've commented here before. I think I listed Saberspark. Well I TAKE IT BACK. The dude has gone off the deep end of degeneracy, and furry acceptance, and tranny supporting. I used to think he was one of the more level headed reviewers out there. What a shame.

Anyways, Malachichi and the others in his friend group (Vezypoo, Stickies, etc) are still cool. They may be weebs but at least they're based, politically incorrect, and funny as heck.

There's also this channel called ratboygenius, it's really good and cool, that Ratboy sure is funny :)

He's been mentioned a few times in this thread and definitely a great shout if you're interested in obscure old formats or hi-fi / audio equipment. Never political, straight to the point. Definitely my favorite British tech reviewer. 8-Bit Guy is good in a similar vein though content centers more on old computers.
(NB: used to really enjoy Ashens, but his content comes out pretty infrequently now and isn't very interesting anymore in terms of obscure or interesting reviews. Nostalgia Nerd had some good videos, but the fact that he's a massive flaming lib and a bit of an asshole in person puts a sour taste in my mouth.)

Scott The Woz, though much more scripted, high-energy and comedic, I also enjoy when in the mood for that kind of thing. Needs to watch it with the dumb skits though lest he become another Doug Walker.
Same goes for Beta64, good kiddie gamur content (though he's on hiatus now).

Cooking channels I enjoy:
Cowboy Kent Rollins -- mentioned before in thread, really great personality with wholesome delicious recipes.
How To Cook That -- Aussie food-scientist; she has some great stuff on debunking some of the 5 min craft and tiktok lifehack videos. Plus recently been recreating historic recipes, which are interesting.

Music:
Tantacrul - composer/musician that does music analysis videos, as well as reviews on DAWs and other software (which are presented in a fun and accessible way that makes them enjoyable even if you're not a musician).

Also worth shouting out Dan Bell... Both his Dead Mall Series (which is ideal if you need comfy noise to fall asleep to or just put on for background) and Another Dirty Room are great, and complete tonal opposites. Stick to his channel as opposed to livestreamed stuff though. Has the tendency to spend way too long on reading superchats throughout streams and, before he got his mental health checked out, treat his co-hosts poorly.

Man I forgot Dan Bell. Love his Dirty Rooms series especially Rick who's with him.

Babish used to be cool but his cringe simping for the Writers Guild strike really knocked him down a peg in my opinion.

Tasting history is still cool.

Stakuyi, the history dude, seems pretty cool. Honestly wish I could afford to go on one of his Guided Tours that he's been doing lately.

I continue to be disappointed that SuperEyepatchWolf is such a huge faggot cause I used to like him.

There's this one JP youtuber who I don't remember the name of but he does/did a Minecraft LP where he knew 0 about the game and didn't look up guides or anything about it. So every time he figures something our it's so genuine and joyful.

You're thinking of PiroPito, AKA nana825763.
His Minecraft let's-play was an absolute curveball when it started, since he's most well known for making bizarre and extremely intricate horror art. His channel definitely deserves a mention.

Part-Time Explorer-Apparently he got his start as a developer on a Titanic video game that is in development hell and was forced out amid drama. Whatever. What he does now are amazingly well produced deep dives into ocean liner history, shipwrecks, maritime disasters, ghost towns, etc. He will often go to the sites and does incredibly detailed research

Just discovered him when a video he did recently on a completely disappeared logging town called Shulie, Nova Scotia.

Liked the vid, but was a little worried about physiognomy when I saw him on camera.

Ghost Town Living-Brent is a guy who bought an abandoned California silver mine town from the 1800s near Death Valley. He went up during early COVID to temporarily take over for the caretaker and never left. I saw his first video when he posted it, and he started as an idiot walking in sneakers through snow up a mountain when his truck got stuck, and slowly taught himself self reliance, building repair, etc. Explores mines, rebuilds old buildings, has goats and llamas, mines and refines silver, researches the town, all while living there without running water miles up from the nearest town

I watched about the first year of this guy's content.

He's a slick millionaire who routinely leaves out details and tells half-truths.

He burned down lthe American Hotel like a fucking moron, which was the only public building of value on the property. Then he cried and e-begged for donations and free labour to rebuild it.

What happened to the live-in caretaker that he "took over" for? It was supposed to be temporary, but the dude never comes back after living there for years.

The Brent owner guy is a former Wall Street guy who also owns the HK hostel in Austin, TX. He pooled millions together with other friends to buy the Cerro Gordo property from the surviving children of the couple who used to live and own the land. The speculators hoped to turn the mine into a tourist property.

The Brent owner guy pretends that he just walked into an abandoned mining town that was dormant for 100 years. But he actually bought the estate from surviving children of a couple that had been living and developing it as a bed and breakfast since the 80s.

The old bunkhouse was used as accommodations. The property was used for weddings and community events like holiday meals. There was a "Friends of Cerro Gordo" community group that helped maintain the property. The husband built a church/movie theater out of one of the old garages.

Brent pretended that the bar in the American Hotel (before he burned it down) was from the turn of the century, but it was actually all a mock up built by the former property owner between the 80s and 00s.

Brent did eventually acknowledge the old property owners 9 or 10 episodes in, but he's still playing fast and loose with the truth.

The couple died relatively young, possibly from toxic exposures from the site. The wife is buried in a cairn on the property and the husband followed soon thereafter.

I believe they were a blended family. Their surviving adult children wanted nothing to do with the site, so they shuttered it and forbid access to the public.

This is where the property was sold to Brent where he started to film his city slicker millionaire larp.

I've mentioned these guys in the Favorite Youtubers thread.

Steve Wallis is a chill Canadian who likes to stealth camp. Mental Outlaw is tech and privacy-focused.
I am convinced Mental Outlaw is a farmer or at least farmer-adjacent. I suppose he can pop up and prove me wrong.

Fishing Garett is basically the Florida Man reincarnation of Steve Irwin and it’s heartwarming.

Cr1tikal is definitely up there for me, I have seen most of his gameplay and commentary videos and he is just one of the most genuinely funny guys on the platform. Check out his Captain Pronin videos, they're gold!

Good Mythical Morning is always fun to watch, they're a couple of OG YouTubers and they still post content that's always good for a few chuckles before I have to go deal with another 12 or so hours of reality.

How Ridiculous are a trio of Aussies who got famous for basketball shots and bottle flips, but nowadays they tend to film themselves dropping things on other things and seeing what kind of damage it does. I love their energy and enthusiasm, and they just destroy the shit out of almost everything they touch which is delightful. Including the jeep that the Slow-Mo Guys mounted their bowling ball cannon to.

I haven't watched Planet Dolan/Super Planet Dolan in a while but their videos were great back when I was and I have to assume they still are. Hang on...
...Yep. Still good.

SortedFood is the kind of cooking show which should be a template for other cooking shows. Sure they'll show you how to cook a banger of a meal but they have a lot of fun doing it and their chemistry is super tight. They're those sort of guys who you know would be great to have a few beers with. Look for the episodes from before James left the crew, they're some of their very best.

Mr. Beast. Honestly, does this guy even need an argument anymore? Just genuinely one of the coolest people on the planet IMHO.

I like Pewdiepie. Fight me. His recaps of kitchen nightmares and 90 day fiance are fun. His normie content is pretty comfy.

I like "I did a thing".

Otherwise I watch maths, war history, or technology/programming stuff (jdh, mattKC, etc).

I'll list a few of the ones I'm currently into:

Charlie Veitch - Vlogger who films his outings in Manchester, UK which includes fights, him getting into arguments with woke groups and keeping tabs on local crackheads. One of his regular activities is visitng a known underpass for gay hookups and exposing whoever is down there.
DJ Audits - A UK auditor who visits industrial businesses and films their activities from outside until he's confronted and challenged by people working there. What makes him better than other auditors I'll list is that he knows his legal rights and respectfully debates them on it, usually leading to a lot of angry confrontation and police getting involved.
Gavin Leron - Black guy basically goes into supermarkets and hits on women while secretly recording them. Kind of fun to see how women of different ages react to him, especially since he's not creepy looking and they don't just automatically run away.
JoeyDoesTech - UK tech YouTuber who buys busted game consoles from eBay and tries to fix them to resell. He does it as a series where he tracks his profit/loss each video.
Kill Tony - Weekly comedy podcast/show where randomly selected people are brought on stage in front of a live audience to perform a minute and then are interviewed and roasted. The host (Tony Hinchcliffe) can be painful to endure sometimes when his ego is hurt but he does get some good guests from time to time, and most of the regulars they have on are funny to listen to.
Koifish - Swedish gamer who makes videos on strategy games like Crusader Kings 3 and has an objective for each video. Each video starts out with him explaining his mission and it gets progressively more sinister and hilariously unhinged as it goes on.
Lyle Forever/Therapy Gecko - Guy hosts a livestream where he dresses as a gecko and takes calls from random viewers and gives them life advice. Used to watch a lot of this but haven't been keeping up to date in the last few months. Most of the people calling in have weird stories but it felt kind of forced after a while and got stale.
OneyPlays - One of the only 'lets play' channels I can tolerate at the moment. Most of their videos have nothing to do with the game they play and is more of just a podcast of friends shooting shit and regularly commentating on the game. With how woke shit is nowadays it's kind of nice to have a channel that isn't afraid to shoot dark humour and have little limits to what they talk about.
RailCowGirl - 24/7 chill livestream of a camera attached to a Norwegian train as it travels through Norway's countrysides.
Restorish - Tech YouTuber who specialises in restoring old consoles with deep cleans. Quite likeable and chill to watch too.
Solo Travel Japan - Vlogger who travels around Japan and solely documents whatever mode of transport they used (ferries, trains, planes, etc.). There's no talking throughout the video and all you hear is the atmosphere in the place they are travelling on. They do provide commentary through subtitles though, but it's very nice and chill.
StuntPegg - Football (soccer) YouTuber who does match vlogs and other football-related content. She's a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of thumbnail clickbait YouTubers that do a similar thing, and she's pretty funny.
TronicsFix - Another tech YouTuber who buys busted tech from eBay and tries fixing them. He's got a bunch of experience doing it, has a chill vibe to his videos, and often buys stuff in bulk to make his success rate more random.
UK MEET THE TYRANTS - Another auditor who visits businesses but focuses on starting arguments and trying to get people disclipined/fired.

Edit: got bored and added more to the list.

I put on Watch It For Days' Columbo reviews to go to sleep to sometimes. She is really funny, extremely thorough and does some of the best Television reviews of all time. I honestly can't shill for this channel enough, so go give her some love will you?
