Opinion I’m Furious at the Unvaccinated

(archive)
I recently found out that a friend of mine — a smart guy — was not vaccinated, and I confronted him about it.

How could he have not gotten his vaccination? And how had he not seen fit to tell me and our other mutual friends? Wasn’t he worried about the risk he was posing not just to himself, but to the rest of us?

He tried to laugh it off, offering up a bunch of concerns rooted in conspiracy theories. But I told him that he had to get vaccinated, period.

The next time I saw him, he was worried about the Omicron variant and asked if I would go with him to get the jab. I texted him a site where he could register and told him to let me know once he had. That was Saturday. He still hasn’t signed up.

I am disappointed, and I am angry, not just with my friend but with all the people who are choosing not to get vaccinated.

There was a point, earlier on in the pandemic, when vaccines were still scarce, when I tried to be tolerant with the holdouts, tried not to shame them, tried not to be angry with them, tried to allow them time to educate themselves about the benefits of getting vaccinated.

But that time has long since passed for me. Call me one of the intolerant. That’s what I am. I will not coddle willful ignorance anymore. I will not indulge the fool’s errand of “I’m still doing my own research” anymore, either.

This virus has already killed nearly 800,000 Americans and infected nearly 50 million. We are now averaging about 120,000 new cases a day.

This virus is deadly and unrelenting. The only way out of this situation, for our country and the world, is through the vaccines. We must dramatically shrink the number of people vulnerable to the virus — or else we risk allowing our population to act as a petri dish for the growth of variants.

In July, Michael Saag, a professor of medicine and infectious diseases expert at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, told The Guardian: “Unvaccinated people are basically the cannon fodder of the virus. The virus needs people to infect in order to replicate and the more people it has that are vulnerable or susceptible to infection, the more likely it will mutate.”

The unvaccinated don’t only leave themselves vulnerable to the virus, they make everyone more vulnerable.

I have heard all the reasons for resistance. There are the people who have politicized the virus and see getting vaccinated through a partisan lens. There are the people who view government pressure, and especially mandates, to put something in your body as overreach and anathema to the American ideal of independence and freedom. There are people who don’t trust the government, sometimes with good reason.

I have heard it all. And I reject it all.

There are just too many fresh graves pocking the land to entertain these objections. And too many lives disrupted, as people grieve lost loved ones, alter their employment, and keep their children home from school.

When this pandemic first exploded, I thought that it would be a disruption of a few months. We are now closing in on year two, and while some offices and schools have reopened, cases are again surging in many parts of this country, and the Omicron variant has spooked markets around the world.

We now have to consider the very real possibility that the virus will not be eradicated, but will become endemic. The journal Nature put this more directly in February: “The coronavirus is here to stay.” In a survey of more than 100 immunologists, researchers and virologists, the journal found that almost 90 percent thought that the coronavirus would become endemic. As Nature put it at the time, “it will continue to circulate in pockets of the global population for years to come.”

Even if eradication is all but impossible, it is possible to control the virus and mitigate its spread, if more people are vaccinated.

So yes, I am furious at the unvaccinated, and I am not ashamed of disclosing that. I am no longer trying to understand them or educate them. Barriers to access have fallen. The only reason for remaining unvaccinated that I now accept is from people who have medical conditions that prevent it.

All others have a choice to either be part of the solution or part of the problem. The unvaccinated are choosing to be part of the problem.

Lol, it doesn't matter if everyone in the first world gets vaccinated. It is still gonna spread and mutate especially in the third world where people don't even have access to the vaccine and big pharma doesn't want to share the recipe so other companies can make genetics. You would think that for the greater good and with such a deadly virus that big pharma would be compelled to share the recipe.

It almost seems like there is a profit motive going on. But what do I know?

What the author fails to understand is that we’re not gonna get through this pandemic by eliminating covid. In the absolute best case scenario, it’ll go the way of the Spanish flu where it mutates into a far less deadly but otherwise transmissible strain, and vaccines will be made optional and distributed in higher supply during the cold months.

There’s no point in getting mad at people who rightfully have reservations about being inoculated with a vaccine whose side effects have been documented but ignored by the media, whose information is trying to be buried for almost a century by the FDA, and is being aggressively pushed by rabid adherents of THE SCIENCE like the author themselves in a naive hope that 100% global vaccinations will bring us back to ‘normal’.

Covid can't outshine meth. Meth is love, meth is life.

This reminds of a conversation with a friend. She recently reconnected with her Dad. She knew he did drugs but it was one of those things that wasn't talked about.

She ended up finding out he was smoking meth. His explanation was he used meth to clear up his lungs/sinuses from smoking pot.

Maybe that's why the South has these low rates. Too fast for it.

They honestly believe this. But even vaccinated people can get and spread Covid. Lots of people whining about cancelled concerts. Most of the musicians that were positive were vaccinated. But everything has to be cancelled or postponed if a band member or crew is positive. Even if they are vaccinated. So we just blame those things on the Unclean? Seems wrong to me.

Why is he so angry?

The author acknowledges that eradicating the virus is impossible at this point, but he makes the leap in logic in thinking vaccines will prevent the spread, ignoring the fact that, as you said, the vaccinated can still spread the virus and thus will continue to mutate.

The vaccine may as well do nothing for all the breakthrough cases that have been documented in the past year. I would just rather it not be pushed on everyone as a prerequisite for living.

In a pandemic, people die. Tough shit. Get over it, you screeching autistic faggot. Of course, no mention of how omicron is very weak, no deaths or hospitalizations have been reported, and even the WHO cautioned against a fresh round of mass hysteria.

Blame you politicians and media outlets

It absolutely is in every sense.
There are people who don’t trust the government, sometimes with good reason.
There is no such thing as a trustworthy government.

Governments and experts knew this almost immediately. They've told you comforting lies the entire way through this. The moment patient zero passed COVID on to someone else it was here to stay, humanity has never eliminated this type of virus.

The author is more a problem than the unvaccinated. The author is someone who believes literally anything, won't think for themselves, and will put up with any government measure at all. The author would have been an actual Nazi had they lived in a different era and country.

I don’t see a date on your image.

I can’t speak for the rest of the south but Florida had a fuckton of covid infections back in August and September. Of course the number are down now.

They’ll go back up soon probably towards end of December within two weeks of everyone getting together for the Christmas holidays and traveling home.

And omicron, as long as it remains mild and virulent is a fucking blessing. Hopefully, we get herd immunity out of this round so the fear-mongering can stop.

There are many, many, many reasons not to take a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • They conducted highly accelerated clinical trials that have no way of determining long-term health effects, and then, they unblinded their control group and offered them the vaccine, which made them no longer a control group.
  • Our governments signed contracts with vaccine manufacturers that remove all legal liability, such that they cannot be sued for the harm their vaccines may cause. Would you drive a car if the manufacturer demanded that you sign a contract removing their liability for any defects?
  • The authoritarian control measures adopted by our governments and their impingement upon our civil liberties, as well as the blatantly unethical way in which they terrorized the public to convince people to vaccinate, is deserving of contempt, and is not to be rewarded with cooperation.
  • There is a clear conspiracy whereby Moderna, NIH/NIAID, DARPA, DTRA, and USAID were all involved with the Wuhan Institute of Virology to varying degrees. By following the paper trail of patents and grants, it becomes clear that the same people who made the Moderna vaccine may also have had a hand in the virus's creation.
  • SARS-CoV-2 is already endemic. It has natural reservoirs in deer and other animals. It will always jump back to people. It cannot be eradicated like polio or smallpox, any more than the flu or common cold can be eradicated by vaccination. It will never go away. The best thing we can hope for is for it to mutate into a less lethal version of itself. This is something that happens naturally in many respiratory viruses simply because high virulence reduces transmission (i.e. bedridden people are not good spreaders).
  • Existing vaccines encode a modified form of the Spike protein sequence from the basically extinct Wuhan strain of the virus, sequenced sometime in late 2019. At this point, taking the vaccine is like taking a two-year-old flu shot at best.
  • All-cause mortality actually shows that the vaccines are killing more people than they're saving, especially younger people, for whom the vaccines have little benefit. The statistics on this are being gamed; if people die of adverse effects from the vaccine before it is considered as having fully taken effect, they are counted as an "unvaccinated death".
  • SARS-CoV-2 Spike is, itself, a very nasty toxin, and not a harmless and inert protein that can be safely used as an antigen.
  • SARS-CoV-2, like SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, is suspected to have ADE, which means that non-neutralizing antibodies may actually help the virus infect immune cells.
  • The vaccine is not sterilizing and does not prevent infection or transmission. This means that it actually helps breed nastier variants. A "vaccine" that reduces the symptoms of an airborne respiratory virus without reducing transmission removes any evolutionary pressure it may have to become less virulent.
When you add everything together, the picture that emerges is a scandal and criminal conspiracy of unbelievable proportions, verging on government-sponsored genocide.

I don't give a fuck how "furious" these whining virtue-performers are, or how many finger-wagging editorials they publish. They are aiding and abetting criminals.
