Add on top of this that the Washington Post is about to do a bunch of layoffs and you start to wonder if she knows she is likely to get the axe and is prepping for her next move.
Not that I have any fucking idea what that move could possibly be given she is Public Enemy #1 of the decrepit state of journalism, burned her last publication on the way out, and has zero friends in the industry that won't be on the bread line themselves over the next 18 months.

You can catch a pathological liar red handed and they will still lie to your face without fear or shame. Lorenz has been protected and rewarded for her behavior up to this point, so there's no incentive for her to stop. It will be interesting to see if WaPo has the balls to finally dump her crazy ass during their upcoming layoffs.

It would be glorious if she lost her perch at WaPo. I imagine she’d lie and say it was her choice, then remind us how she’s been pushing her Substack newsletter for months and say that this was always the plan. Related, imagine how excited her editors would be to be rid of her? I’m sure she’s 10x as much work as any other reporter, and what’s worse is that her “beat” is absolute drivel.

Notice how Taylor always hedges her denials by including an extraneous detail that allows her to "deny" it without lying. Even for pathological liars, lying is still unpleasant and difficult to keep track of. Whenever possible, they will do half-denials that allow them to shift the focus to nonessentials that they believe will give their story greater credibility. No one uttered the phrase "European elite," but by choosing that phrase, she can deny that she was a member of the European elite without having to address the fact that she was a member of the American elite. Even THEN she can't bring herself to directly deny; she simply adds an emoji on the end to make it seem ridiculous. But she is just repeating the claim (the truth) and hoping that her tone will convey a denial without having to OUTRIGHT CLAIM IT'S FALSE.
She also does this with "I never COVERED Claudia." Whatever she means by covered in her own mind is different than our definition, so she can saw that confidently without lying, in her view.

Back then, it was admirable and desirable for her to graciously lay down her privilege and acknowledge it. Now it is not beneficial for her to have grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, so she now uses "public school" "U.S." and "union worker" to make herself seem more working-class.

There was one a while back, written by a black man, where he was furious that his white neighbors shoveled out his front walkway without being asked. It was white supremacy, see, because they were just assuming that he wasn't going to do it himself. Which he probably wouldn't have, because black and lazy go together like chicken and waffles.
