Out of all the social justice twitter zealots, Dan is easily tied with Matt Myers as the most loathsome.
There are people who are more vitriolic and crazy like Steve Shives and Dan Arel, but Steve Shives behaves the way he does because his wife brainwashed him and I’m convinced Dan Arel has some kind of mental problem because there’s no way a sane person can tweet the way he does.
With Dan and Matt, I get the sense they both know and fully understand exactly what they’re doing and they simply don’t care. They’re just utterly shitty people and who use social justice advocacy as a smokescreen for their appalling behaviour and abhorrent personalities.

The gaming industry loves this though. I presume it's because their doctrine is entirely defined by their allies and enemies, and thus they only think to react or spout out ideology when those allies and/or enemies act on their beliefs.
Dan's latest video is a good example, the main reason he made it was because other YT'ers dismissed the methaporical of "Annihilation" in favour of the literal.
He is not incorrect in what he says (and even shows genuine appreciaton for the movie), but he primarily says it because other people are "wrong" (Cinemasins?), not because he considers Annihilation to be a work of art.
Hbomberguy is easily the most pristine example of these types, able to make heartfelt (and """entertaining""") and informative videos on topics he loves (Speedrunning), but also making incredibly shitty ones as a reaction to others (Dark Souls 2 Defense).

I have mixed opinions about Hbomberguy. On the one hand, his mere existence triggers Clawshrimpy into near constant spergouts, which is great. On the other hand, he's insufferably smug and is incapable of taking criticism, as shown by him dismissing MauLer's 13 hour takedown on the Dark Souls 2 defense with something like "only a mind warped by mental illness could have made it, so it obviously has no merit."
I know, it's just depressing because it seems like there's no major political platform that involves actually regulating business anymore, which is scary to me because too much power in the hands of corporations inevitably leads to some kind of dystopia.

I enjoy watching the film over Christmas but it’s not great and I have no nostalgia because I’m too young. A Christmas story (along with die hard, love actually, and the holiday) are films my wife and I enjoy watching just for shits and giggles.

I started to watch his video on A Christmas Story and was laughing at how pretentious and absolutely joyless he sounded. I didn't finish it, but I guarantee that there was some rant about "American whiteness" and "racism" somewhere in the video, am I correct?

My very first encounter with Dan was his video on GG in which, with no evidence provided, he declared that the hashtag (and those supporting it) were guilty of terrorism:
If you've never seen this fucking thing (or at least one of the videos breaking down its idiocy), I cannot recommend you do so enough, for a few reasons. It not only perfectly encapsulates why he's a lolcow (unironically arguing that anyone who dares question his position or ask for evidence is committing a willful act of harassment), but it sets the stage for why, in my opinion, Dan is a fucking sociopath.
One really nice thing covering the Autism Holy War the way we did gives us if the benefit of perspective. Five years after it began and Four years after it ended, we have a good view of all the pieces, where they were on the board, and how the board was set up and fits together. We have a good idea of why things happened, and while we're never going to know the full details of everything, we know enough now to draw some reasonable conclusions from all this, so now, let's travel back in time to October 21st, 2014, when Danny boy first uploaded this fucking thing.
What the casual onlooker wouldn't know - but one would knowing all the details - is that Dan Olson and the rest of Team Nostalgia Chick were in Zoe Quinn's corner since before the scandal even broke. The nanosecond the Zoe Post dropped, Quinn tapped every single resource she had to get it shut the fuck down - Reddit mods, 4chan janitors, and more - Quinn used all of them to try to save her own ass. And because she was a long-time IRL friend of much of Silverstring Media's staff and a personal acquaintance of Feminist Frequency's heads, she had ridiculously long reach, and was quick to use the same "I'm so harassed!" defense Anita did.
However, a curious thing happened; turns out when you try to ban an entire topic to the point you are pushing the dump button on hundreds of pages of 4chan boards and mass-deleting thousands of posts on Reddit, that shit tends to get noticed. And so it was on Channel Awesome. Unfortunately for the denizens of this website, Lindsay Ellis and her army of psychopaths were not about to allow actual discussion of the scandal to take place. They had absolutely no fucking shame about it, either, going so far as to exploit the death of JewWario for their own ends:
Todd put this up less than three days before Dan's Video went up. Certainly makes this a hell of a lot more disturbing, doesn't it?
As was recorded by Count Jackula, Kyle and Dan proceeded to basically demand everyone on the entire website submit to purity tests and publicly condemn Gamergate, arguing that anyone who wasn't on-board with said condemnation was guilty of condoning harassment of women. Ellis and Todd were little better. If you ever wondered why the fuck Angry Joe's attempt at discussing GG was a rambling fucking mess and left out so many details, it's because Team Nostalgia chick was actively trying to shut down any discussion of the scandal, forcing a giant rift through Channel Awesome and forcing most of the content creators to take sides, with really only Larry Bundy, Jackula, and a handful of others having the balls to tell Dan and Kyle to go fuck themselves. Olson would be such a noisome sperg about GG that even Mike Michaud had a rare outbreak of common sense and wound up firing his ass.
We can tell that Jackula was telling the truth about this because of how many CA creators that by all accounts, had no dog in this fight, were suddenly all in against GG, even when staying the fuck away from that conflict would have been a perfectly acceptable stance. We also know it's true because it's fucking exactly what Bob Chipman tried to do on the Escapist with Jim Sterling. We also know it was true because Diamanda Hagan shows up in the comments of Jackula's vid to apologize, and establishes yes, this shit fucking happened.
While all this shit was going down, Dan was in touch with both members of what would become CON (including Quinn) and the other members of Ellis' little ship of spergs, as evidenced by both their Twitter feeds and the fact that less than two months later they would show up repeatedly in the CON Log Leaks and Trello Log Leaks further conducting operations against GG and attempting to find ways to attack what they viewed as "big" GG targets. And while Dan would later get caught in his infamous attempt to plant CP on 8chan with Laurelai, it's his video in question here that we must now come back to.
Knowing all of the above paints Dan's video here in an entirely new light. This was not an act of someone who was simply putting out a puff-piece on behalf of his buddies and calling it a day. Dan was doing this deliberately and maliciously as part of his ongoing campaign to push Channel Awesome into opposing GG. Granted, part of this was already visible, considering our own @LordKaT shows up as one of the many people Olson flat-out accuses of being responsible for GG fucking happening in the first place in his fucking video, but it's nice to have some collaborating evidence behind this. Dan's attempt to stablish an entire group as guilty of all the offenses of a tiny minority of it is an ongoing theme with him (while covering up for a fucking self-admitted pedophile in srhbutts, of course). Several of the incidents Olson brings up he flat-out knows are lies, or the work of third-party trolls; Operation FalseFag II being particularly notable because that was a Brianna Wu self-flag.
When looking at his behavior, one can never shake that if Olson were less cowardly, he'd be capable of some truly terrifying shit, and with the full support of his own conscience. The dude is the fucking Vidya version of a religious fundamentalist and I can never shake the feeling that he'd say or do anything to anyone as long as
