If that really is the case then it's extremely stupid because you can already do that with their smartphone app.

So its just the remote play the Vita had but without the part of the Vita that actually runs games?

Oh, both PSP and Vita could do remote play. The technology just wasn't even a lightyear away from being playable on PSP, and still didn't work...
