I'd expect the bots to slowly evolve and change tactics over the course of the war, wars are usually a technological arms race after all.

They kind of always been like that but they rapidly loose the ability the aim once you start shooting at them.

Like the other poster said, and there's even a tip for this, the Automatons have a "corrective aiming system" or some other nonsense the training...
