Cobes was kind of an old school lolcow.

For those of us who remember a time before the internet, if you moved in certain circles there was often a King Cobra like figure.

A kind of scene or area idiot who behaved like an out of control teenager well into his forties.
Like Cobes, they would frequently think they were way more attractive than they are, for decades be trying to get their totally rocking and rad band off the ground even long after their teenage band mates had moved on with their lives.

Think Otto Mann of the Simpsons or Gary King played by Simon Pegg in “The Worlds End”.

Some would wise up if they managed to get a lass up the duff.
But even some of the ones who did become fathers would continue to be perpetual losers, with an unclear relationship with the child and mother.
They definitely wouldn’t have custody, but they might occasionally scare the shit out new drinking buddies or passing acquaintances by seemingly have found a child.

I myself even recall asking an IRL “Cobes” where he got a four year old from and if he was planning on returning it, only to be told that the child was indeed his and this was his visitation day.

I felt for the poor boy and his mother.

King Cobra was a way of watching what guys like this did at home, without risking being wrapped up in their drunken misadventures in the pub or outside off licenses.

Sometimes one would have to seek them out if they were a semi reliable seller of weed, but usually watching from a safe distance was best.

When they seemed to be provided with enough legitimate cash for a steady drinking supply and had found a hovel which they could dwell in long term, they could almost be an entertaining drinking buddy for an afternoon or two.

But when they were wrapped up in drama, avoiding local scum because of a small debt or had pissed off a known violent individual or group or there was some harridan of a girlfriend making problems, they were best kept at arms length.

Though I do confess to giving 50 squids once to a pusher over an unpaid drug debt for one of these idiots.
He didn’t deserve the threatened kneecapping, but I never bought him another pint.

Anyway, digression aside.

Rest in Peace King Cobra.

I hope you are playing some sick riffs with Hendrix and Ozzy in Rockstar Heaven.
 
fuuuck. I've got things to do today, but can't do them because I can't stop thinking about this.

I need to know whether he's alive or dead. this uncertainty is awful.
 
I'm just a thread tourist but I was starting to familiarize myself with his lore because he seemed like an odd but harmless town drunk. That old buddy from school on the wrong path in life you sometimes catch up with. I hope he's not dead and will rethink his lifestyle. Come back, Josh!
