who has an interesting theory, accompanied by good references on related literature.
basically, the germans are back to their old tricks, as Karaganov would put it, transforming the EU project in a 4th reich, lebensraum 2.0 project where the annexation of east europe is executed, this time through political and economic means, as they lack the military means.
Poland is by now basically a german province, east europe and most of the old USSR republics have already been captured, and the plan was to swallow Ukraine (which was basically achieved in 2014) and then use the ukrainian affair in order to regime change and dismember russia and include it in the EU sphere of influence.
that would explain why the commission is so hell bent into getting ukraine into EU, and to transform the EU in a megastate ran from an unelected technocracy, of course under the control of germany, in the person of Dracula von der Lyin, granddaughter of nazi oligarchs.
not sure how USA would fit into all this, but i supposed it could simply be a case of concidence of interests. EU would get the land, and USA would get rid of a potential competitor in the unipolar world. not sure the interests still coincide, and that would explain why USA and EU are on diverging routes.

Kaya Kallas is just a silly goose, completely powerless, who talks shit but the power is firmly in the hands of the relentless german nazgul, who has basically already achieved the centralization of EU area foreign policy, even though according to the treaties, it should still be competence of the member states.
