OH SHIT (OH SHIT) OH SHIT (OH SHIT)
GAS PRICES WILL BE LOWER THAN EVER BEFORE!!! DO NOT SELL!!!
It's speculators panicking because Iran droned a tanker that had been sitting off the Iraqi coast.
It'll probably self-correct in the coming hours with all the news of reserves being tapped and Trump using Civil War laws to force California refineries to start pumping.

Imagine what the civil rights movement would have looked like with security cameras and body cams. I somehow managed to get through school without being forced to read MLK's letter from a Birmingham jail, so when I read it for the first time in 2020 and saw he namedrops BLM+Antifa style urban warfare "direct action". Nobody would have supported him if they actually saw what his fiery but mostly peaceful protests were actually like.
There were actually political cartoons about this at the time.

Not every MLK protest was a bunch of retards freaking out, but many of them involved clashes between protestors and counter-protestors/police. Much like protests today, "peaceful" protestors showed up during the day (which the press recorded) while "mostly peaceful" protestors showed up at night to cause trouble. There were also straight-up chimpouts like the Watts riot. What happened there is a black dude got arrested for drunk driving, failed a field sobriety test, and him (plus his mother, who was in the car with him) fought the police. Onlookers claimed the police beat a pregnant woman and this resulted in rioting, looting, millions in property damage, and 34 deaths in total. MLK didn't have anything to do with the Watts riot, but he basically blamed it on housing discrimination.

The real tragedy of MLK is that he was basically used by Stanley Levison, a communist, to advance his own profile and political goals.

But lethal injection costs millions of dollars. That argument would make sense if we still had firing squad-style executions in most states, but that's not the case.
The courts, jailing, dozen+ appeals and stall strategies, and public defenders are what make it expensive. If you've got them dead to rights, why waste time letting them argue semantics for the next few decades?
You also have the issue of killers like Timothy McVeigh and Nicolas Cruz wanting to be executed. Isn't it better to have them rot in a cell for many years instead of giving them the death they wanted?
"If you kill them, they win." Complete lib/capeshit. Kill them so they can't keep "winning" by being a drain on society.
Also, many families don't even want the death penalty, so it won't give closure to everyone in the case.
If they care so much, they can personally foot the bill for his permanent incarceration. It's just $50,000 every year, maybe make a gofundme. Surely if they love their murderers so much they can find it in their hearts to feed and house them? Oh wait, they just want to virtue signal that they love the poor wittle monster that has never and will never be a net benefit to anyone.

Better proposal, if you have a sentence of over 10 years, you need to pay for every year past that, or we fucking kill you. If you get out and commit another felony while on parole, we kill you right after sentencing, reform or die. 3 strike rule back on the books and in full effect, each repeat offense is a multiplier like the good ol' days. Send them on up to see if God has some mercy to spare them, they clearly have failed on Earth with what they were given.
