With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

Moreover, I'd argue the minor inconvenience is the point. A lot of the fishtoys are essentially childhood bullying, which will inevitably lead to a crash out. It's death by a thousand cuts.
If I want to watch a true Hellhouse and see people get tortured, there's a Ukrainian rapist out there who can satisfy that need. I'll stick with the unibrow mutt rapist otherwise.

I am opposed to full Hellhouse too, my point was those were really early Hellhouse concepts that never accomplished anything. Just annoying the fish constantly doesn't lead to crash outs, it leads to the fish all being drained and inactive. It's like giving them dozens of cigs, energy drinks, and only grits to eat, it sounds like it'd drive them insane, but poor diet, poor sleep, and excessive nicotine just makes them junkies that just lay about.

Don't get me wrong, she was no content queen before that but I can definitely see her going "So nothing fucking matters huh?" and not feeling like trying anymore.

I've defended her before for winning challenges and actually being pretty good at the "game" of Fishtank, but at this point they've totally dropped bullet eliminations and the idea that it's a more straight forward game show. That was really all she shined at, and it doesn't seem like she has anything else left in her. I think in any other season I'd still argue that we should let her cook so to speak, but this season is 2/3rds of the way through and there's only a week and a half left. If she's going to be interesting in any way, she really needs to do something right now today.

I think the nontent pit is probably very hard to get out of from a fish's point of view. If you're not just naturally weird and interesting, like Alex B, the Twins, Landon, then you really need to have something else going on. A charisma or volatility or a willingness to really go there so to speak, like a James Drake or Laura type. Emma just can't sell that kind of thing, she's always the worst actor and presenter and doesn't have the confidence to really sell something to the camera. Even if she snapped awake and went around starting fights and drama with others in the house, it'd be obvious she's doing it to try and do anything at all. I think she's just too much of a blank slate.

They did it in S1 and it didn't even make it through one season. It takes several hours for cranking it up or down to have any noticeable effect on the fish, and then someone will just pay to turn it the other way so it's a complete waste of time and doesn't really do much to make it hell house.

Thanks for telling me just in case.
I knew it just got scrapped in S1 but was using it rhetorically. I thought it needed to be workshopped hard, but it was a decent idea. I feel like a fireplace fishtoy would be a good compromise if they ever brought it back; maybe guarantee a few hours of it running per purchase.

In S1 I tried thinking of ways to make it good but there's no way to really heat things up or really cool things down quickly in a normal sized house without putting the contestants in actual serious danger or locking someone in a small room like a sweat box, but then it becomes a problem filming their reaction etc. It's just not viable. Not all ideas are viable.
 
They are bringing back the infamous "don't stop moving" challenge from S1

I mean production has also cucked a lot of potential content so it doesn't surprise me no one wants to try anything. Jet keeps saying he wants to do a serious game show but what's the point of any sort of social game when the Fish have no say over who goes home and the challenges are half-ass bits that they came up with in the moment? Big Brother for instance lends itself directly towards social maneuvering which is what creates all the drama. Consistency has always been a problem on Fishtank because the show changes on a day by day basis based entirely on the whims of the wiggers. If Jet/Ben would just pick a lane and stick to it I feel like it would solve a lot of their problems. Watching this show is like whiplash, you never know if today you're gonna see a gameshow, hell house or a streamer content house.
