Hopefully if the EoSD remake does well (it probably will imo) then it could potentially lead to remakes of Touhou 7 & 8 as well.

Edit: someone mentioned the possibility of it happening to the PC98 titles as well but I wouldn't keep my hopes up.
Pc-98 is highly unlikely since it's copyright hell for a lot of things, rip to my Gengetsubros

But Touhou 8 remake? Hell yeah, I don't give a fuck about Eosd, give me that shit

DOUBLEPOST BECAUSE A BIG FUCKING UPDATE!!!
theres a very high likelihood the new remaster actually uses the decomp i mentioned here
EDIT: its funny how they dropped an eosd remaster only after it had been decompiled
nerd ass nigga rambling warning: the RTTI information left in the remaster mentions th06::FileAbstraction and th06::IFileAbstraction
1781041225818.png
THOSE ARE FROM THE DECOMP - https://github.com/GensokyoClub/th06/blob/master/src/pbg3/FileAbstraction.hpp#L9
ZUN does not use thxx namespace nor does he use the name FileAbstraction
ZUN keeps leaving RTTI info in every game past PoFV (iirc) and its called like PBG::File and PBG:IFile or some retarded shit like that (PBG being the name of the guy who made the archive format and the format itself)
of course there is a chance its a giant coincidence, but i think it would be more likely to win a lottery than for it to be a coincidence

the only other place that could generate RTTI info is MIDI stuff, but it doesnt have those, which means that it either is a giant coincidence, or (which is much more likely) they have gutted out the MIDI functionality

its so fucking funny

EDIT: also the lead dev of EOSD NC is the developer of waifu2x (the upscaling tool), the characters from the trailer do look like they were ran thru waifu2x

EDIT 2: THE REMASTER 100% USES THE DECOMPILATION
the codebase specifically checks for "ver{x}.dat" (where x is the game version) files inside the .dat files (pbg archives)
1781046079875.png
https://github.com/GensokyoClub/th06/blob/master/src/Supervisor.cpp#L598 (the decomp code)
why would software written in scratch do that? the files themselves are empty, theyre only used as a sort of checksum (to see if archives are not corrupted, or if they are the correct files at all)
the insider also mentioned the "%s open ...\n" string appearing, but it "didnt fit in the screenshot"
https://github.com/GensokyoClub/th06/blob/master/src/Supervisor.cpp#L592 (the string in the code)
now tell me why would a DEBUG string from the original game (something the player will not see) appear in a fan port supposedly rewritten from SCRATCH

Anyway... I suppose this means we've officially entered the Remaster stage of Touhou's life span
I think this moreso shows how much PC tech has changed in almost 25 years. It also never really helped that EOSD was the one game which has been broken for lots of people w/o intense finagling for years, so this helps the tech illiterate (read: gen z) play peak. It also doesn't help that people complained about it being harder given it lacks many traits (hitbox, collection zones) found in the following games

But yeah it's crazy that a game like this that's older than me is still as popular as it is.

I personally would've rather had infinite lives been in a practice mode, to practice different patterns or bosses, instead of the actual game.
A death counter mode is great for practice, but the whole balancing of Touhou is centred around going for a 1cc. I'm assuming to unlock the special stage you'll still have to beat the game on normal with limited lives?

If current market for this game is Gen Z, an age group notorious for frying their attention span with short form video content, they will lack the patience to sit and play practice mode. I think locking the special stage will trigger lots of cope from a group of fans unable to access it.

Gen Z absolutely rapes you. They, the Generation Z'ds, WILL sit through a practice mode if the Zun makes a good and well designed game. Gen Z'ds would never complain if the special stage is locked behind a progression element. Who the fuck complains about unlockables in a video game. Get off your high horse and stop pretending you're "a twue vetewan of the Touhou fwanchise" for a second and embrace the fact Gen Z'ds are young and virile and youre old and decrepit, mouthbreathing fag.

some retard in steam discussions was asking to have a diffculty select for extra mode (as a "modern accessibility" feature)

You elitists destroy every game. Faggot, I'm over 18. And not only do I want every difficulty setting for Extra mode. Not only do I want cheats in Touhou 20 and beyond, I also want a no bullet mode where the enemies shoot absolutely nothing at you. Not only that, nigger, I want cheats to be on the leaderboard right next to the poor little elitists who can't stand a chance against the cheaters. "Oh but that would destroy the whole point of the game" you say with your drooling mouth. Get fucked. Gen Z'd dominates you.
