I went back a few pages and couldn't find it. Anyone have the link to the "AI Recompiled and Recompiled in Rust" browser Halo deathmatch Null mentioned on the podcast?

More gravedancing, this time from insiders, don't remember if we've had Laura mentioned in this thread before but she's actually worked in and with and around these people.

Thank you for sharing this, it’s very interesting to hear insider insights. Though it’s funny how the video is a very polite way of saying what we’ve all been saying for years; 343 were a bloated, lazy and contemptuously incompetent studio from the very start.

Also if Activision had any balls they would let us play as Spartan Jun “Objective Complete: Survived” A266 sniping his way off Reach.

Here's the post I made which I think was the first one about the decompilation. - https://kiwifarms.st/threads/halo-mcc-infinite-general-griefing-thread.70182/page-479#post-25643599
I saw some stuff on X about other versions, but I don't think anyone posted them here. I haven't watched the podcast yet to see what he's talking about.

>take out AA wraith
>die from phantom with three ghost drops right on top of me
>taken back to the previous area

i think 3 might be my least favorite bungie halo game
legitimately
something about the levels themselves just feel so off and you can tell they were really fucking done with the series at this point
I disagree. 3 is the one they definitely lavished everything on.

1 was a proof of concept game where they were working the kinks out.

2 had a lot of great ideas, but they didn't finish them on time.

3 was the one where they had the time and money to finish things the way they want. Especially in the combat encounters. Fighting a chieftain isn't as easy as killing a Zealot in Halos 1 and 2, where it's just a matter of firepower, but it isn't as hard as fighting H2 Brutes without a headshot weapon.

I just beat Halo 3 again this week, and the game is solid on all fronts, save for the story, but the story was mostly explained in 1 and 2, and 3's story was merely serving as the wrap-up, narratively speaking, but the most polished combat exists there and ODST, along with Reach.

As for the AA wraith, this was on level 4, no? That was easy enough for me. Especially the part where you had rocket mongooses.

Let chief rest, i would love a first contact game as a normal human pov. make it an insurgent from some shithole colony, you spend the first third of the game shooting humans for a change and doing sabotage, with maybe a spartan bossfight were he murders your squad and you have to run.
Then the covenant invade, and you end up joining the UNSC for the rest of the game because your shithole colony got glassed, make each elite a proper miniboss, and a jackal your equal.

That would be something different from master chief walking though the same white sterile forerunner hallways for 15 fucking years.
There are so many cool ideas you can do with this IP, 343 fucking sucked so much
They could've done an Atriox game; showed us what he was up to during the Human-Covenant War. Since they're averse to making human opponents for the heroes to fight, let us fight instead as a Brute who fought AGAINST the Covenant. Show us why the Covenant never came close to defeating him.

I just got Halo 3 Reclaimer all set up and holy shit this is so much fun!
Jeeze, the interface is so much better and less empty. But what do I see ?

Halo studios would never do something this because it would cut into micro transaction revenue. Where’s the battle pass? Where’s the pride month skins?

Does it have Firefight mode?
It does not seem to have it but what I can see is that it does have acces to the Steam Workshop mods.

So here are some of the main game mods you can select while hosting a custom game.

And I have acces to this mod through the Campaign menu but not to the ODST firefight main mod.

Geeze if this mod can do this with every other Halos, that would be cool.

Current Version is v0.8.16 on GitHub : https://github.com/ProjectReclaimer/project-reclaimer-releases/releases/tag/v0.8.16

Edit : We jumped to v0.9.1 the same day I posted so here is the release list instead : https://github.com/ProjectReclaimer/project-reclaimer-releases/releases

Worst hijacking of a vague post-credits epilogue.
I'm not even sure it's that vague. They're surrounded by scraps their ship alone couldn't have made, a fancy schmancy sci-fi residue surrounding them like a nebula, and Cortana saying "We managed to make it through... Some of us at least." after mentioning the portal becoming unstable. The part of the ship they're in looks cut in half far too cleanly for it to just have broke off.

Beating the game on legendary added an extra segment of the ass end of the ship falling towards a planet, with visible forerunner shit etched across it from orbit - So the whole shield world thing was being speculated on all the way back then, 343 didn't come up with it themselves.

What was implied is that something fucky went down with the slipspace portal as they passed through, and that lead the ship to be cut in half - Most likely the portal closing just a bit too early, leaving the ass end of the ship in slipspace still. FTL is basically never addressed in the games beyond "high energy" and "destructive", but Reach shows us it will pretty cleanly shear through shit when not used properly. The books further establish that the inside of FTL isn't linear in time or space, so as soon as that exit closed, the chiefs half of the ship wouldn't be guaranteed to be anywhere near earth once it manages to leave again - Dunno how it got out, ass end of the ship still had its own drive so maybe they used it to exit.

The only thing 343 did with the whole opening to Halo was decided to half-undo the covenants collapse and put someone who should have been dead back into the world just to be their big bad only to completely fumble his use entirely. They certainly opened strong.

don't tell me they even ripped off the awful idea of time travel from old bungie too
I don't think it goes as far as time travel, and I remember something about reconciliation meaning that spacetime gets angry if you use too much ftl at once. But it does mean you got weird shit like trips having inconsistent travel times along existing routes, and realspace distances being almost meaningless for how long FTL takes to go between them - two stars spatially closer to each other might take months longer to travel between than others. The variance applies to individual trips as well, its possible for two ships to travel to the same destination, and for one to leave days after the first, but still arrive before the first.

Luckily the games never worry about that, as far as they're concerned, slipspace just goes places quickly and things arrive 'when they need to' and no sooner or later.
