The issue is not that there is autism to laugh at, it's that nobody who isn't already a fan of vtubers knows anything about them. You already see it in multiple posts here. How many people are going 'man, I know some deep lore shit about this one girl, and here's twenty screenshots to prove it', versus how many people are going 'cartoon women? Never watched 'em, never will. Guys who do are weird though'.

Let's go to a ridiculously extreme negative for a moment; what if somebody made a PG thread on, say, underground pedophile rings? Who exactly would be able to contribute anything to that thread? The answer would be A) people who are pedophiles and would be doxxing themselves by sharing stories of their experiences, or B) people whose experiences amount to 'wow those people exist and are bad i guess', while having zero desire to dig into the sordid depths of the matter in order to extract real content.

Nobody who can contribute anything valid and interesting to this thread is going to do so because they already share that stuff in the existing thread. Meanwhile, the vtuber haters, some of whom have already shown they don't even know said thread exists are never going to have the patience to engage with a medium they hate long enough to dig up any juicy content. People who don't like vtubers won't have watched hours and hours of vtuber content or be trawling through the innermost depths of /vt/ to find quality material to put here.

Already, 95% of the quality salt in this thread is just being cross-posted by regulars from the vtuber thread in Multimedia, and they're too invested in the positive side of the medium to want to constantly highlight random 500-sub indie vtubers sperging about muh trans rites on Twitter.

That I understand, but there's being knowledgeable in the subject and then there's being a poorly disguised simp.

You are oversimplifying the nature of aversion to nyanners by quite a large margin. The original issue has been her dumping of the previous fanbase (of which anons were a large part of) in favour of tumblr SJW circles, which she handled abruptly and with the help of content purges and several incendiary posts that accused her old fans of basically being groomers and pedophiles. After she either failed to get into those circles (or decided they're not for her, it's unclear), she kind of existed for a bit before her grand comeback as a vtuber doing the exact same shit she did in the past and which she condemned.

For most, it's more about the perception of being cynically used in the past, especially in light of the circumstantial allegations that she pulled this stunt to jumpstart her ultimately failed voice acting career. I remember there being insane morons who formed a parasocial relationship with her (somehow) but they were the minority when shit was going down. At this point I think the majority of outright hatred for nyanners (as opposed to disgust) is fuelled by secondaries who were just told she's "the traitor" and who took that as an invitation to go wild. That or it's more shitposting.

Fair enough. Still seems pretty autistic to be seething this hard all these years later.

I have a generally uncharitable opinion of her but she's not exactly a raving SJW evil mastermind some portray her as, just a huge hypocritical idiot who bet on the wrong horses once upon a time and lost. My first tango with Artemis was actually the graphic novel, which I think was meant to adapt the first novel? I don't think I read the actual first novel, but I definitely read the second and fourth. They were okay, entertaining and brimming with original personality at least.

I'm certain the movie was straight ass, though. And I remember that they were announcing it all the way back at around the end of the aughts, too. I don't know why it took that long to produce something so low-quality.
